What would YOU do?

So I've gone against my 'do-not-use-vague-titles' rule because I'm desperate!

Ok not really...but here's the low-down:

I'm working two jobs: one as a Breast Cancer Research Intern (with the goal of getting published pre-BA) so my shots at Med school will improve, and the other I answer phones/call codes at Tampa General Hospital. The latter position is usually over night and grants me FL time. My problem is that I feel like I've kinda plateaued in my FL exploration. I currently have a quasi-pinned char (who's class is arguably most conducive to exploration and the acquisition general game knowledge). I've mapped, in detail, most of the areas of FL (that are easily accessible). And even parts of Winter/Factions/etc.

I'm kind of at a loss of what I want to do. I could focus more on PK now that I have a solid foundation of general FL knowledge. I have never had a Caballed Char and I feel as though I'm missing out on half of the FL content because of it. I've likewise never had a qrace/qclass char.

With so many options, I'm finding myself divided, not knowing what to do, and losing interest. This CANNOT happen as FL is the only thing to keep me awake at this second job(shockingly enough, studying up on various carcinomas/sarcomas/lymphatic involvement in cancer/etc. only keeps me going so long!).

If I fall asleep, codes don't get called. If codes don't get called, people die. Therefore, through logical deduction: I lose interest in FL, people die.:(

HELP!

Nice logic heh :)

Okay, so since we don't want people to die we must keep your interest in FL :P

I would suggest rolling a GLADIATOR. Perhaps the best choice would be BLM since they are so versitile. If you know how to get a good amount of consumables, then perhaps even a Barbarian.

This is my shot.

[edit] Oh, and as Nikodemus (and EA) says, challenge EVERYTHING :P

I would not suggest a gladiator. They teach you nothing about gathering consumables. I say ogre war barbarian. You learn all your prep items (sanc armor shield stone skin flesh armor frenzy enlarge) while giving you a nice augmentation to your melee ability. Ogres have a large large amount of hp, so you get a nice buffer of oh man I fudged up better run and heal.

I'd throw in a ranger as a suggestion to compete with the option of a blademaster.

I already have a pinned ranger. Warmaster is not a viable option with him, however.

I appreciated the suggestion, and it seems like a combination I would eventually be interested in, but I don't mind tellin you that the intricate and variable aspect of BLM skills intimidates me quite a bit.

What is it about WM that gives it a kind of Cabal-newb friendly status?

A LOT of people are willing to duke it out with a WM in challenges - something that benefits the WM to begin with, which gives a tremondous experience opportunity as far as class strategies go, IMHO. And then there are those pesky Savants to give a more 'real' taste of battle.

Warmaster is good in the sense that you can have a LOT of battles that don't end up in death if you lose. Neutral WMs are great for this, if you aim to keep as many friends as possible. :)

The best choice, IMO, is to just play whatever the hell you want and get out there. Don't think too much about race/class combos that are good for learning PK, or which is more 'survivable', what's most important is what is fun for you to play for an extended period of time at 50 - you'll learn so much more PKing a lot at 50 with a fun char than half-heartedly playing someone else's suggestion of a "survivable learner PK class" and deleting after a few deaths.

Warmasters... Sheesh listen to them talk, do you see them in game? I agree with Dey, pick a character you enjoy. Especially the RP, then apply yourself to one of Aabahrans many causes and die. Die Alot. Seriously. Fight like hell, and dont log out just because your a watcher wannabe and there are six tribunes on. Your first Cabaled character likely wont have the overall talents required to Lead the Cabal anyway. So rather than worrying about what race/class will be unstopable play the Character you love to play, and play it to condeath!

Is there a race, class, religion, or RP style you swore you would never play in a million years? Try it. I've found that I hate Melee and Mage, goods, purity and tranquilty, love Rogues and a goods in FL. Never played one seriously until recently. I never played a mage in computer games, swore they weren't my style. Turns out they are. "I'll never play Miriam and the Believer's!" and wouldn't you know? I love that faction more than University or Aki Zeta.

I'd suggest the same thing with wine, but your assumptions are almost always spot on there. It works with most things, and in the end you've either pleasantly proved yourself correct and reistablished how in tune with yourself you already are, for pleasantly surprised yourself and found something great! Leave, "I always thought I'd hate standing in front of a passing CSX." more towards the end.
