Out of curiosity...

"I'm here for a good time, not a long time."

That's where I stand on the matter. I do what the hell I want to do to ensure I'm having a good time and enjoying my life provided it's at nobody else's expense. Could I substitute some parts of my diet for more fresh vegetables and fruit? Yes, I could, but I find vegetables taste like **** and to be honest, I'd sooner eat a nice cheeseburger or pizza. Could I go out on a Friday night and have just a couple beers in the name of my health? Yes, I could, but I get a real buzz going out 3-4 times a week and getting home 13423 days later wearing the same clothes I went out in knowing that I've just had one of the most intense social experiences of my life... and it never gets old. When/if it does get old, I'll stop. And well, the next person that stops me in the street and asks if I'm aware of the risks of smoking and the benefits of quitting, will get punched in the face.

The list goes on. It's not just restricted to drugs (alcohol, tobacco, etc.) but I focused on those because that's what the topic seemed centred on.

Do I want to be able to look back when I'm on my deathbed at 28 (joke :P) and say that I've lived my life to the full, and done everything I've wanted to, and not compromised on my own enjoyment? Yes. Do I care what people are going to think of my when I'm dead? I couldn't give a ****. To be frank, I don't care now what people think of me. Have my lifestyle choices caused me problems? Damn right they have. A couple are serious - but **** happens. I have no regrets.

People (not referring necessarily to you here Bali) need to stop worrying about what other people do with their own lives, within reason. We're all different, and we all need to stop trying to convert each other to share our own opinions - just live and let live.

I may come across as sounding like another naive young adult here - but I can guarantee you I'm not. My opinions and beliefs go far deeper than this. It's impossible to be 'wrong' when deciding on how to live one's life.

NO! Dey, boil some broccoli and melt some good cheddar cheese over it! It's great!

EDIT: Oh, almost forgot. Funny how this thread de-railed, especially after the quote of the day. :S

DOUBLE EDIT: And no, I AM NOT implying that anyone has been anything other than kind in this thread. HAD to add this. I swear my words get more twisted than Nancy Pelosi's underwear. Not that anyone wants to see those.

I see where all of you are coming from, but Pali the one thing i disagree with is that everything you do has an impact on someone. Alot of the time you might not even see the impact. Honestly though thats what makes our lives interesting though, is having unique thoughts and views on life. Anyone who is able to develop their own views on life is alright in my book.

There is a difference between the impact being "I don't like what he's doing and it makes me sad" and physical/financial harm being done to another. I refuse to live my life based on how others think I should be living it, be they friends, family, or someone I just PKed. Others are welcome to disagree or disapprove as they wish... I certainly do the same with many of their choices and beliefs.

I am not some too-baked moron sleeping on someone's couch and eating all their food. I am not some idiot who gets way too drunk and starts fights or breaking things. I live on my own, I work, I support myself, I stay out of trouble. The very worst anyone could say my actions are doing to another person is earning their slight disappointment/disapproval... and that's okay with me. As I said, I don't live for the approval of others, nor do I expect them to live for mine.

Red Wine. The only health benefits that comes from red wine has nothing to do with alcohol but the grape. Grape juice has the same benefit to your health. The alcohol companies are really trying to deceive people with this one. Though I can't blame them, drinking wine is much more fun than grape juice. :)

P.S.

Bali. You need to get laid. When I get back to the States, come to Florida. :)
