MeleeCrazy
Wow, it feels like there are so few of us left that i'm almost fighting myself. it's like the same few players are playing all the different characters. we need more people soon, the ship is sinking. maybe i'm trippin but after the excitment of ranking my new favorite class to pinn i'm left with little to do in game. frustrated who is still playing anymore, i miss all those people who got mad and quit. i'd give anything to have them back now. i feel like something needs to happen big time. we can't afford to lose anyone else(though this was almost a good bye thread) anyoneelse fellin my frustration..? Dale
There was 22 people on yesterday, that made me so happy. I didn't even think 22 didfferent people still played. Lets make it 44.

Nikodemus
I'm fairly confident that the playerbase is much larger than 22-44 players, unless each and every single one of them plays 24 hours a day, seven days a week. I have always been a bit curious as to why FL doesn't advertise as much as some of the other MUDs do, though. An announced double-exp/faster training (well, OK, that doesn't create interaction) event combined with the upcoming standard/veteran character distinction, and some veteran players creating lowbies to interact with the newbies simultaniously would be a great way to gain a good few players. Jedi_Donkey
A lot is based on voting, I put in my votes, so I can say this. Many "new" players come from FL being or not being on the voting sites. In terms of people leaving; I think if some people would use a little kindness, even as an evil, that would help. A lot of new and old players end up leaving due to anger issues. They pull a rage delete or something due to the fact they "worked so hard to get equipment, then died and lost all that eq/time." I dunno how many times I read that, maybe just take a couple things, or 1, or none? Especially when you had no problem killing them, why make it that much easier on yourself? I personally enjoy a challenge, not some easy trouncing. But that's just me:D
Sandbox
i logged on a few times, but im hesitant to come back because i have problems with using ooc knowledge, so i had removed myself for the sake of the community. When i can resolve those issues ill come back.
TheNewGuy
Sandbox, just play, and try to not use ooc language. You'll get used to it after a while.
Sandbox
it wasn't my language that was the problem ( in game). I killed 2 people ooc for 'vengence' because I assumed some stupid crap. Some of the stuff i did could only be described as trashy. I've been slowly working myself back into things the proper way.

Iyorvin
Well, you want the reason that I'll end up leaving again? I'll play, but I'm a lazy player. This is my recreational time, and it takes WAY TOO much time to compete in this game. Between training, and ranking, and the lowering of the player base, hitting rank 50 has gone from a 2 day experience, to a month. Then what? To lose everything every time I die? All games that do not lower their learning curve, in a dying environment, will eventually fall off and be erased, altogether. What needs to happen, and I don't care what the old vet hard asses will say, is that non rares need to be non loot items. At least as far as armour/weapons go. Put in a rank requirement even, I don't care. Tag armour and weapons with select tags that make them unlootable if they are non-rare, but allow them the loot of consumables. I have not read the tiered pk system in a long while, so I don't want to comment too much on it, only to say that I don't like creating a divide in the player base. The game in general, from top to bottom, needs to be made more friendly, and the learning curve lowered. We would have much more characters live through an angry night if this full looting nonsense was stripped. Less incentive has to be made on equipment and pk, and by having these full loots, it's became SO MUCH about keeping and maintaining that set, that less and less people get into big battles. In my honest opinion, because of the concentration of focus on items and pk, we will not see any of the classic fights of the veterans of old. I will rant in a very disorganized fashion. To elaborate more and more with my unstructured argument; I have a family now. Some of you may remember. I get MAYBE 2 hours tops to myself, and probably 10 tops over the course of a week. That's my reality. I might of been back prior to this if I wasn't so occupied in real life. That is the issue right there. This game takes too much time - in a non valuable way. We need to increase the important game play, like RP and PK, and reduce the redundant die/requip time - that will consume the majority of the AVERAGE players time on this MUD. Lets not even think how hard it is for a new player. Lets face it. We are all jerks in this game, at one point or another. So we can't preach to ourselves not to loot, we need an implementation to allow non rares to be kept. I am just speaking from experience, and I know all 50 players left playing this game will jump down my throat, but I'm telling you, as a player who wont' be able to keep playing due to these issues. TheNewGuy
I agree 100% about making non-rares no-loot! That's a brilliant idea! Maybe not consumables, but at least armor and weapons.

TheNewGuy
Nobody said that. Iyorvin said NON-rares, which was what I totally agreed to. Of course rares must be lootable, since they are limited. Non-rares though, is always there on the mobs/shopkeepers that usually have them, so they could be no-loot, thus making it easier for those that are new. Of course we need exceptions also. Gold must be lootable. I'd say consumables should be also. And backpacks.
Jedi_Donkey
I find myself agreeing with Iyorvin quite a bit in his post. I find that with the pbase getting older, acquiring careers and in most cases "real lives". The playtime on average is dropping. But I have also been an advocate for swaying the game away from a contest of "who's got the best eq?". It is taking away from RP, taking away from truly balance pk, and in a sense destroying the "classic" battles. For instance, certain classes can kill other classes without any equipment at all. I know for a fact I have killed some players with just a shield/weapon as my clerics and shamans. Most of them were quite well equiped, and ended up gearing me. Then some other classes can't kill anything at 50 without a full suit of decent gear. Maybe just a little less emphasis on eq, and more emphasis on skill/spell %. Dunno, just an idea. I have no idea why equipment is so important in the first place, maybe cause it gives a "reward"-ish feeling to the game? In that same sense, however, it gives a "punishment"-ish feeling when you mess up or run into someone better equiped and so on. Full-looting is a plague and must be stopped! That's just what I think, dunno, maybe I shouldn't think that way cause I'm the best geared lvl 1 with practice gear ever!!! Har!
Ali_gmud
Rares lootable, no rare armor/weapons nonlootable, consumables lootable, keys, scrap items lootable. I could dig. 2 hours a night play time? It takes me 2 hours to master 1 and a half spells.
