What grinds your gears?

Do not turn this into a flame, or I'll toss you into the same bottomless pit that Twin threw the eye in!

Here's the topic, name the things that people do in game that bug you.

Here's mine: People knowing my name before I've introduced myself, what guild I'm in, and what level I am.

This is so OOC in my eyes, yet I see it happening in almost every group I join.

I think my biggest pet peeve is when people use the "I'm crazy" RP. It's old folks. Even the variations of it are tired. Just once I want someone to kill me, RP with me afterwards, and be perfectly sane and have a semi-cohorent thought pattern as to why we threw down. Wishful thinking I know...

Ohh here's one, all those descriptions that have an entire paragraph describing someone's biceps. You know, I still think the most rare RP is someone who's perfectly normal. Grew up in the Shire or wherever and just left home to explore the world.

I've got one.

People who don't realize how famous their character is for being part of a guild and not some commoner. You're a hero/villain in my eyes. ;) Your name is known throughout the lands, your deeds never unnoticed, and your handsome/ugly face recognizable to all but the most secluded. :D

You have a point, I just don't think it's strong enough to support what I've seen. How hard would it be to recognize one single Drow you'd never met from the others? Not only that, but to say their name in a tell before you've ever met them?

I don't think it should be implemented here, but I have seen one Mud that wouldn't allow you to see someone's name when they were in the room until they'd introduced themselves to you. I always thought it was interresting and promoted RP.

Ignore. I think it should be reserved ONLY for those people that would be banned already if not for the Imms being offline.

Ignoring someone who is RPing with you is not RP!

QFT! Ingore is a ooc tool used ONLY to not have to listen to people who go ooc. If anyone wants to RP that he is ignoring someone, then he should simply not respond.

Hah!

My list of irritations is large, but I only get slightly annoyed. Most of the times I laugh more than growl. :)

1. Roleplaying a character with no actual weakness. If you want some good rp, you should have both a good and bad side to your personality. Strengths AND weaknesses. My characters have been drunks, scared of horses, dying of some incurable disease and numerous other aspects that I completely enjoyed playing out.

2. Evil being characterized as someone who kills, steals etc. Please understand that is NOT evil. Think of evil as doing whatever it takes, without restrictions, for personal gain. If that is killing, so be it. Then again, it may be typically "good" acts that ultimately help the character achieve his/her personal gains.

3. People who attack you because you are "evil" or "good" without taking a second to speak or even LOOK at you. What a waste. By all means attack me. I play the game 75% for the PvP aspects.

4. Full loot and sac for no reason. Sacrificing non rare equipment is foolish. I never did it, and yes I have played characters that the majority of the realms would log off when I logged on. Leave them anything you won't use so they can fight you again later. Some exceptions are sacrificing items specifically designed to thwart your class. IE HIGH save or vulnerability equipment.

5. People who will OOC criticize others for speaking OOC. That is awesome and puts a smile on my face every time.

Had this one provided by a friend that just started..

He asks "Have you ever had an immortal make you change your name? And then forgot to write down what you changed it to?"

Never laughed so hard in my life.

Truly a gear grinder.

People that give characters away OOC'ly so other players can play them/pick up from where they left off.

Pinnacles attacking hunting groups (nothing I'll complain about, just makes me want to peal my ears from my head and eat them)

Playing a shaman and trying to kill a cabal guard

Being disconnected mid PK coming back to find my dead/looted (my fault of course for having the wires run through my main walking hallway and my brothers room)

High standards for QRACE/QCLASS appz

can't think of anything else atm, but there is many more

What gets me is when that lvl 50 attacks a group and some members of the group don't help fend off the attacker either out of there honor code or fear of dying. Whilst the one that stands up to him usually falls.

Not high enough standards for qrace/qclass applicants in certain situations.

How ninjas can assassinate you just because they are a few rooms away when a tick happens to pass.
