Clan Promotions

I think it would be a good idea to make them automatic. Although this week I understand that people may be out of town on vacation with family and whatnot, there have been several other times that I (and uncountable others) have waited at inductee/member after having done countless clan quests and RP'd our balls off with the other cabal members.

Yes. And let's make induction in the cabal automatic too. After you have killed X persons at 50, have logged X hours and completed X quests. And then Trusted/Elder/Leader positions too. And then restring everyone to robots!

Can't say I like the idea...

let's go old-school

Well... After some consideration I realized I wanted to rephrase:

I play MUD's because of the interaction. If I wanted to get automated advances based on my performance, I could play just about any other game. However, I would not mind seeing some players (Elders/Leaders, perhaps?) with the ability to advance other players. I never really understood why the system was changed from the way it was in 2.0.

Yeah, I say down with the be-in-the-clan-first system and let's go back to the old 2.0 cabal system.

Different cabal Imms have different views on what they expect to see for you to get a promotion. I rarely ever give M for chars

let's go old-school

I like this idea.

Elders and Leaders can promote as they see fit also. If something were to impress me, and I felt the promotion was indeed earned, I would give it

I like this idea.

that's 'cause you're an old-schooler.

How old school we talking about?

i used to absolutely hate the new school clan quest system for induction, but it seems to advance people's clan ranks pretty freaking fast now. and little clan quests actually mete out the more longterm interested characters pretty darned efficiently.

sometimes that didnt work out completely at least in my case, when i had a pinnacled evil monk and some really lame NEXUS cabal elders decided to laugh and deride my character in the forums (?) which was especially lame since i took no deaths OR refusals at pinnacle during clan business and didnt really warrant that behavior whatsoever. basically that taught me that player run clan-cabal-whatever things can, under some circumstances, be very lame and a waste of time. i didnt even have an account on the forum at that time. bascially to me it was a couple of kids laughing at nothing.

but then as a KNIGHT hopeful i was elevated from inductee to cabal member with only the minimun clan quests and some RP and found that environment to be pretty common sense and straightforward. but this is all circumstance and timing. meaning it depends on when and who is in charge.

so what is the issue? player ---> clan hierarchy ---> cabal, and then just cabal promotion automatically based on time and / or PK record? i'd think syndicate and nexus should be PK oriented as always but then again you might as well take a chance now, because, seriously, taking the whole playerbase into accout, you'll be lucky to get enough people in roll to even take up a couple " PK BAD*** " slots now anyway in both nexus and syndicate at the same time at any given moment in time. i mean there just arent the qualified number of players to actually fill those 2 cabals alone anymore and still have all the qualified players to fill out the rest.

so i'd say keep the clan system and make due with whatever is status quo beyond that BUT BE GENEROUS, and dont be so damned pompous in some clans.... because.. there arent really enought players to fill out cabals right now anyway, you might as well take chances even in the elite cabals and let folks sink or swim. and it's hella funner that way anyway.

I believe when I was elder I was extremely fair with cabal promotions, basically if they were I before 50 and finally hit 50, I pull em aside and give a little interview to see if hes up to snuff and throw a promo on em, if he screws up later he gets an immediate demotion. Reverse and likewise

I think Leaders should be given the power to induct. i mean come on, they are LEADERS of the cabal.

I think Leaders should be given the power to induct. i mean come on' date=' they are LEADERS of the cabal.[/quote']

I think Elders and leaders should be allowed to see clan member's clan quests

I think Leaders should be given the power to induct. i mean come on' date=' they are LEADERS of the cabal.[/quote']

they can into the clan, just not the cabal

I think Elders and leaders should be allowed to see clan member's clan quests

i second that

I like the going back to old school idea.

I think this cabal system has completely ruined clans. Something I love and am currently trying to revive, somewhat... Its hard because everyone wants to get into that cabal for PK.

I guess I never played back when it was 'old school', but I think currently the clan --> cabal system works, so you kinda know you are advancing closer to gaining admittance to your said cabal. I'm not entirely sure if clans were anything but venues to join a cabal, before, so I'm not sure how it ruined clans?

How were they different back then?

Judging from the help file. Clans could be player created. So you could create a Gnomish coalition of Tarandue with a bunch of other gnomes if you wanted it. Now, it seems that not joining a cabal clan is a horrible idea since that's the only way to get into a cabal.

Maybe if there were a way to be a member of Hourglass AND the Gnome Coalition, people would be more inclined to start player run clans. But everyone wants to get into a cabal, so they all forgo starting their own clans.
