OOC circles

Well... they are alive and well. People know more about your character than you do... Its low people... Its incredibly low. You know who you are, and I officially have less than the no respect I originally had for you...yes, it is confirmed. You can have negative respect for someone. Vacation mode entered, those of you I can stand...you know how to reach me.

People can only know who you play if you tell someone. It sucks, but it's true. Take a break, come back, and just stop chatting with people on aim. I have only four people from FL on aim and I hardly talk to two of them, so my circle is more of a line.

And still OOC line is completely to blame for the retirement of a couple of my characters, and it's only a-g in my line. If I were any of you I would trust him with any of your character's names.

There is a reason the FL chatroom was shutdown a long time ago. I havn't used AIM' date=' Yahoo messenger, ICQ, any of that for years. Even if I did, I wouldn't chat with anyone here while I was playing. Not that any of you know who my characters are anyway. ;)[/quote']

The FL Chat consisted of IB4M, Grishnak, myself, TDP, Jhyral and just a few others, who happened to also at one time or another be IMMs on here. It was a carryover from AR. One person, one person who didn't even have a character here, mouthed off to Crypt in it one day and that is the reason it was shut down. He threatened to ban all of us.

OOC is going to happen. Period.

It is a huge advantage in this game.

Groups to hunt and rank with.

Groups to equip gather.

Individuals to share, trade , give equip to others after PK looting..

Not saying you cant do those things without OOC friends,, but if you keep an eye out you can see it.

I of course did the ultimate no no and traded with myself awhile back, wish I had a few friends to give stuff to, to trade back.. but hey..

Honestly even when I was talking to the dumbasses around here I never came across someone wanting me to give them gear, or trade in an ooc manner. You did find the occasional person who would ask you over AIM to go on a run through factions, or gear/dischord, but I never had someone say hey, I will give you this on this char if you give me this on another char. Who the hell are you guys talking to?

As far as ranking together, I cannot understand why you would even ask that over a chat service, why not just ask in game? Same with runs through factions and junk. You will have to ask them over the game anyway....

Am I one of the few people who just likes to bull**** with people who share a common interest? I mean hell I love talking about potential combos, refining RP, helping with apps/descs. Most of the time people I talk to WON'T reveal who they are, just keeps the game more fun.

I will say that nothing is f unnier than fighting someone, and someone over aim is telling you how strong you are without realizing it is you who plays the char lol, now thats funny stuff.

I often do that with a real life friend as well, but then when I play I never talk to him usually because it breaks my concentration and enjoment of the game.

I straight up stopped talking to ANYONE about my current characters. I learned my lesson the hard way when my TDP Syndrome mutated into the V-Strain. :(

I won't say which IMM said this, but he/she said it best.

"Mixing real life and MUD is sorta like mixing drugs and alcohol. Yeah, it might seem fun at first, but unless done very carefully, you have a very high chance of eventually puking your guts out, or ending up comatose in the ER. Easiest way to avoid it is to just not mix'm"

And seriously, if you think someone's OOC via AIM or anything like that that you don't know about, prayer forum ahoy.

i uninstalled aim about 3 months ago, life has been much better since then. Especially FL :) I got tired of people expecting me to treat me differently because i knew them out of game... nothing more annoying than killing someone in game then they bitch at you on aim.

I don't care. I have people always poping in and asking me if I play random chars, usually wrong. I treat every one the same as if my char knows nothing about it. Aim doesn't bother me though, usually humors me a bit.

There is me the person, and me the character. I can not be both at the same time, this is how I convinced the therapist I am not skitzo. If you actually believe you can be both at the same time, being and without OOC, you are not dedicating yourself entirely to the game. Be you, at home, be somebody else when you play, we promise to notice the improvement immediately. In other words, the chicken that clucks is ussually one of the ones that laid an egg. Why talk to anyone out of game period, unless you thought it might help your character? One entity aiding another? You the person, helping you the character. In some eyes you might as well have two characters on at the same time. JMO

Yeah it sucks when you have a evil backstabbing ninja, and your friend OOC knows who you play, you study them while gearing up, assassinate them, and just watch for the little message pop up

yea, i hope they do too... i've noticed a few people who always tend to group together, im not 100% sure they are the same people but their mannerisms across characters were pretty obvious.

The imm's are pretty good at seeing trends, they might not catch you right away but they will and they'll find a tall tree somewhere in the back of Emerald Forest and leave you a hangin'.
