I agree with L-A here. And I don't think it causes any sort of balancing issues and here's why:
Sanctuary is VITAL in 50s pk. Not suggested, not nice to have, not kid tested mother approved, a necessity. I do think the staves are nice and fairly easy to get, but that wight can be a biatch too. And, if it's there, why not have a crappy more expensive less useful version for sale in shops? And it can still be dispelled just as easy, but it means that pockets will be deeper in the sanc department. Shrug. I like the idea, and I do think it would make (specifically non certain cabal) melees much more playable. Lord knows I hate being at 50, getting chased only to run out of vials because I've been reequipping.
Actually, an equiviliant of Lerant that provides level ~30 sanctuary vials for the same price as red potions would be neat.
EDIT:
Well.. The shop would be sold out all the time. Perhaps infinite supplies would be better.
And make them really heavy. I know that sounds weird, but it would help limit people from having 300 of them at a time. And maybe prone to evaporation? That way people could stock up easily, but they couldn't have a million of them too easy.
Ya, making consumables for melees easier to get would be great IMO.
They are easy to get in the first place. Sanc sources are fine as it is. Why do you think they made that thing there in the arena 'USEable' instead of a stave? Sorry warriors and such could use it. Cmon people. If your lazy, just go ahead and play a mage.
Sure do miss them pills. Maybe just bring back the old pills but make them stick in your inventory.
That staff is a rare which is not good for a warrior's inventory space plus you'd be telling alot of people where you are when going into the arena which I hated. Plus you have to hold it to use it meaning you have to remove those cursed weapons with talismans blah blah blah, in the end increasing room for error.
Killing the Wight for that staff isn't that hard, I've seen warriors waste the wight in five ticks av (even faster if you have holy weapons), add three ticks for the wait, and you have eight ticks to get 15 charges of lvl 50 sanc. Sound like a good deal to me. And if you want to be lazy, join Warmasters. I really don't see making sanctuary more avaliable will do much to power up the warriors. Now on the other hand, increasing the avaliability of good hit/dam gear will.
Five ticks? With a decked warrior it shouldn't be taking you more than two or so.
And to Lay About...sorry you have to work to keep up a good warrior. Mages have to work to keep up there non-lagableness as well unless they are an autofly race.
I hardly call buying a few scrolls or that nifty staff work.
Killing the Wight for that staff isn't that hard
What's your cabal IMM going to say if you're doing that when your item's been stolen or cabal is being attacked?
L-A
Often I'd had to wait a lot longer than eight ticks for cabal enemies to come get their standards back. So I am positive the cabal IMMs won't bust you for getting the staff first. And while we are on the topic of standards, Communers have it a lot harder getting standards than melees, you've got to take that into account when you consider balance in standard warfare.
My point is that retreating for a moment, getting the staff then coming back to kick some asss is not that much of a problem. And I was refering to getting another cabal's standard in my example, a communer takes forever to kill the cabal guard.
Maybe give warriors some kind of combos they can execute without having to join the WM gladiators to be able to. Weaker than the combos of the cabal, but more, like the stances of the monks. The warriors don't have much things to do againts a foe like a cleric or a shaman with a cursed weapon and shield. Bash, dirt kick, disarm, shield disarm and the skill from the mastery they have chosen is all a warrior can do. Have that cleric or shaman with a protective shield and it leaves only dirt kicking and charge.
Warriors dont need anything more to do against prot shielders. They are EQ reliant, so a well-equipped warrior with ample preparations can fight against a communer just fine using their vast melee output to give them the edge, not neccessarily doing lots of things in battle. Giving them combos would just make them stronger, perhaps even sort of like a blademaster with bash.
