Sandbox
i sped like 2 days gearing up my saves and when i started working on my hit/dam i get ran over by another melee better suited to fight melees then i have to start over, then when i gear up for melees i end up getting destroyed by a caster before i can get to my saves. It takes me a long time to gear up and even when i do i dont do it properly. That and i make like 200 mistakes per fight lol.
Cephirus
Flee. If they get the jump on you, do not fight. You are unprepared, mentally, and with your character. Even if you just applied all your bonuses, the mental jump helps the attacker. I recommend fleeing first. Take a breath, then analyze your character, are you ready for this fight? If no, don't fight. Let them call you a coward, this is their ploy to cause you to make a mistake.
Ali_gmud
heh, everytime I flee or run off to prepare or mentally prepare myself for some intensive PK I always get called a pussy for going into my guild/clan
KRins
Now you see why people make rash decisions and get smashed...in game, in the real world, in the cage...hell everywhere. You let emotion rule you, you lose. You approach things as a "professional" (not getting a pay check...but with the attitude and the where with all of the highest level) and your chances are drastically increased. Cephirus
heh' date=' everytime I flee or run off to prepare or mentally prepare myself for some intensive PK I always get called a pussy for going into my guild/clan[/quote'] I almost never go to my guild/clan/cabal. Not that I think it makes one a pussy per-se, however if I am hunting you, I will look there.
Ali_gmud
I meant if I am sitting in town, and I see you coming with sanctuary on.. thats when I'll quickly shift myself to my guild to prepare marcos/aliass/weapons/armor/protections/food+water/potions. i'm not going to fight you if your prep'd and I'm not. KRins
I'm going to take this opportunity to once again voice that macros should be illegal...play the game, don't make it a script writing contest...
Imoutgoodbye
I'm going to take this opportunity to once again voice that macros should be illegal...play the game' date=' don't make it a script writing contest...[/quote'] Macros are in the right hand corner of gmud. I put what I want the macro to equal and I use the, say, F4 key as a shortcut. Aliases are just my skills/spells shortened up. Triggers are a double edged sword I don't use. And there's nothing to be done to make them illegal (it's impossible, the mud program runs the "scripts" and outputs the proper commands to the mud, ie the mud does not know the script is being used) nor should there be. Ali_gmud
it's gmud man, it's like assigning hotkeys - nothing thats going to me a HUGE advantage - but SOME advantage to help me beat armies of lag locking zombies, fast drow ninjas, crazy sneaky vampires, and what ever else I may come across

Croyvern
Lets see if I can articulate this without sounding like a complete arse. Lets say your a midget, and some strong man at the circus is a real jerk. You know if you run into him he will want to fight. But you are preparing to fight the fortune teller. You have two choices; keep gathering wares to battle the fortune teller and wait for the strong man to make his move, or take out the strong man and see what he is wearing that will help with the fortune teller. I spent years avoiding the strong man, only to have him kill me for the wares he needed to face the fortune teller. These days I know that option two, taking the figh to the strong man, ussually turns out to be the easiest option. It is so much easier to kill an ogre warrior in your range than to gather all the saves from the mobs who wear them. And if that melee class is prepared for a fight, he ussually has a few secondary pieces of armor. The profits of war outweigh the profits of adventure almost every time. Alright let me modify this...MULTILINE macros should be illegal. It is detectable, as I've played other muds where they were illegal and enforced pretty well. I guess they just see a string of commands being entered very quickly or a block of commands all at once. That or we could use a macro writing essay in the essay section... Pali
I don't see anything wrong with macros... they're great for skill/spell training, and I have yet to see a skill work so reliably that one can enter it and the next several commands during a PK match and be assured that they will win. Battles are too fluid, too dependent on quick thinking and adaptation to your opponent, for a "dirt;bash;bash" macro to be useful. More often than not, spamming that many commands will just get you killed.

I tried using multi-lined macros... to my utter death. The only macros I use are for skill/spell training and to attack someone who is fast enough that I need it. Malicious
I don't see the real issue with using Macros to switch weapons, remove cursed weapons, eat/drink, etc... If it's a RP issue you have with it...Well for obvious reasons, there is no RP reason why Macros should be illegal.

TIP: You can fight a melee vs caster with pure hit and dam. As far as I am concearned the ONLY way to dress any melee character is to get as much hit an am roll as possible. My current caballed character had a 53 58 hit and dam roll and I hit lacerates through sanctuary. And easy demolish-mangles without it. And I had little problem with spell casters due to the ridiculous damage I was putting out. You can take this to heart or blow it off, no hair off my back. But those are all facts right there.
