Ghrundor
I cannot figure this out, so perhaps someone can clear up my confusion... How come evil clerics get earthquake as a spell, while good clerics do not?
Twinblades713
Because all clerics suck. They're not OP, not that. They just suck. Also, evil clerics are evil. What use have good clerics for destroying the earth and killing a bunch of random crap? All the goodie cleric spells are about repenting and removing evil. Earthquake just blows **** up. Mudder
I think evil clerics are more offensive and thus get an area attack while good clerics are more defensive. This was brought up long ago and I believe that was the 1.0 staffs response or something similar.
Psycho Child
Earthquake is crap anyway.
Croyvern
earthquake is mid teen AOE spell for drawing out hidden/camoed enemies. Good Clerics get calm. While it may not do direct damage, so you may consider it weaker, it sucks to be calmed for most of your enemies.
songofsixpence
Both get calm. At least, my last evil cleric had it, and it was only a few months ago. Evils get earthquake b/c they're more offensive in general. Goods get undead related skills/spells. It just reflects what they're supposed to be doing more of. mya
Both get Calm. Evil Clerics get Earthquake. Good Clerics get Turn Undead. Evil Clerics get Ministry (sermon). Good Clerics get Portal. Evil clerics cast PAth of decipt at 30 mana (Plague,Poison,Blasphemy). Power dependent on Evil Cleric PK record. Good clerics cast Ray of thruth at 40 mana (Blind,Silence,Shrink) Power dependent on Good Cleric opponents PK record. Evil Clerics get Dispel Good, which can potentially hurt more than a dispel evil. Good Clerics get Dispel Evil, which hits Undead Vulnerability. It's quite balanced. Good clerics for newbies with easy escape, no penalty for death and bonus vs Veterans. Evil Clerics for vets with lag and rewards for killing and not dieing. Only thing i see wrong is the 30/40 mana cost diference on Ray/Path. Specialty since Path is a lot better. Earthquake is not crap. In fact is the only dependable weapon a Evil cleric has vs a thief.
Croyvern
I thought a calmed thief/ninja couldn't blackjack/strangle is this not true? And I would venture to say "faerie fire" is quite dependable against thieves, and I happen to know IKFL will agree with me there . Awesome battles. Some of the best logs I own, warmaster thief vs savant healer.
Pali
Good Clerics get Dispel Evil' date=' [b']which hits Undead Vulnerability. This probably should not have been mentioned.
Evangelion
I agree that Ray of Truth should probably have its mana cost lowered. I think the vuln-hitting potential of Ray is balanced out by the better mals cast by Path. Just my $.
Mindflayer
Evil Clerics get Ministry That's a new one. Does the Reverend Valek jump out along with his brothers and sisters of the cloth and drop knowledge on your god fearing ***?
Andre
Earthquake is crap anyway. Like hell earth quake is crap. I use it all the time for BLM'S otherwise they just use an annoying skill which I can't use spells and then if I murder I get countered.
KRins
AOE spells...particularly when the other side doesn't get one...don't hate on them. Never know when you might need one...even an avoidable one like earthquake.
Iyorvin
I'd argue the main attribute of earthquake is the initiation of battle, nothing more. A goodie cleric can not initiate combat if they are blind.

Dale
I don't think it is balanced at all. Ray of truth 40 mana, I used to his Martineus with decimates with no sanc. Worthless.

Dale
Martineus was a vampire, but he was a tribunal, he had about 2 actual pks under his belt.
Calron
I think you were probably noticing a vamp perk rather than his lack of PKs.

mya
I don't think it is balanced at all. Ray of truth 40 mana, I used to his Martineus with decimates with no sanc. Worthless. This is quite possible. Ray damage type has been changed a few times in FL. With the right saves you can save it most of the time. - So we have a Character with a low PK count. - And not hitting a vulnerability. - Sanctuary and protection vs good. - With high saves. This means no caps damage. For example for the worst case, a Magic resist race: "Your ray of truth wounds someone." Most of my rays only get Caps damage IF they fail the save. Then yes, you will get those MASSACRES, LACERATES. If you catch with the pants down, it will be Mangles Or: Your ray of truth *** OBLITERATES *** Someone! For players with extended PK record and that have not died recently. Frankly Clerics are not Invockers. You will not be spamming ray during all the Battle. You will get easely outdamaged. What you will be doing is: - Cursing. - Steel wall erosion of HP. - HP drain from some meele in the case of you having a good Mace. - Running and healing. - Looking at opponents Sanctuary timer. Then when they are down in HP and your HP is still high from cures, you start the Ray thing hoping for a Blind or quick kill. Meeles tend to have 2 rounds lag from skills, this is where you get your kills. He spamed dirt, and saw it land and then went right for a disarm not waiting for lag to wear off. Or you brought him to a maze like area, and he manage to land a Blind and he has to flee and quaff 1-4 red potions.
