Mudder
fe·ral Audio pronunciation of "feral" ( P ) Pronunciation Key (fîrl, fr-) adj. 1. 1. Existing in a wild or untamed state. 2. Having returned to an untamed state from domestication. 2. Of or suggestive of a wild animal; savage: a feral grin. Copied and pasted exactly from dictionary.com Ferals (Though yes, it does make one think of feline) are merely savage-tainted humans. They have claws, fur, and are super wild. I personally think of a werewolf. More of a canine than a feline.

brsingr
actually, if you look at help feral, it says nothing about humans. feral - In the year 368, a group of Miruvhorian refugees were forced to flee into the Forsaken Lands. thats all, no race is specified, and, it says They began to crouch low as their bodies attuned to the wild and some grew claws with which to defend themselves. Their senses were empowered tremendously even as fur covered their skin and their features grew more beastly then human. They are extremely fast, strong and tough, and their need of survival has attuned their natural reflexes to the extreme. you read this, and you think cat. a small, tamed feral would be a house-cat. even if you are tamed, fur and claws arent something you can just make **vanish**
Sirax
Ferals have the most re-string possiblities from rat like (skaven) to cat like (furies from Terry brooks not flying version) to wolfen, possibilities are pretty much endless. The picture they bring to mind for me is crazed vagrants that have sought a petrol based drink to consume and instead have picked up some radiated/tainted special brew they found lying around the forsaken lands, hench a peculiar change of habbits and appearance. Warpnow
I don't think a tame feral would be a human...they would be a descendent of the human race, but they wouldn't be the same. Couldn't he RP a feral who left society, grew claws...fur...all this crap, THEN became tame?
Mister E
What about a feral who was almost roadkilled by the caravan between rheydin and val miran. Some kind halflings found him near dead and took him back to the shire where they slowly cured him. He then spent years with the haflings and became kind and decent, developped a sense of humour and learned to drink and smoke. Boom, a civilized feral (should still be outcast though)

Deykari
I think that the reason help files are so vague is that it gives you the opportunity to make what you want of your character, whilst still giving a few boundaries that each races must stick to, for example, minotaurs being only chaotic. Imagine a helpfile that said "Ferals are brown-furred creatures with red eyes, and all Ferals have three claws." You pretty much have free-reign over your character's aesthetics, with the guidelines to give you something to work towarsd. You can always RP your character outside these guidelines/boundaries in most cases, and although it may well result in an Outcast, it would still make for something a little fresh nontheless. When there was that discussion about being able to make Stone Giant Druids on the netfreehost, didn't one of the Immortals say that they have yet to see the first Elven Dark-Knight or Drow Paladin? Oh, and Sirax, Velyhn was a Wolfen. Alone in his forest, killing for his meat, until Eshaine's capture of Val Miran upset the balance of the habitat in his home forest. He set out to leave his forest for the first time, to find the disgusting civilised world, and solace only in the Sacred Oak. From there on, he was to protect that what he took for granted... I think what Mister E said about the non-feral feral thing is quite a good example. You could even implement something like that over a period of time, (silly example coming up) the Feral being a wild creature content with only the mass slaughter of those with names beginning with the letter B, until the forces of Nexus threaten to destroy the universe, inwhich the Feral bands together with the rest of the lands, and learns to become more civil and whatnot. The view I get from the Immortals (and please, correct me if I am wrong) is that as long as it's balanced, fits in perfectly with RP/is RPed perfectly and doesn't go against game rules (by game rules I don't mean IC rules or IC boundaries) or game mechanics in some way, it's game for a look at.
