Current situation is that a human mage and a Elven mage deal the same damage with spells. But a Ogre warrior and a Halfling warrior deal completely diferent demage with attacks.
What if INT could be a factor to spell damage. In invockers you do not notice this, but lets say a Dark Knight, the human one deals more damage with attacks and the same with spells than a Drown DK.
Im not talking of a huge increase... Just something like 1% per INT point above 20. That way elves and ilithiads would give +5%, Gnomes +3%, and Human DK's +0%.
Halfling clerics and duergar clerics and FIre clerics would give less damage, -3% -?% and -5%. That would suit well for fire clerics... Giants should have a magic penalty.
Invokers are overpowered.
I thought currently that INT does affect the damage of spells. I know it does afftect it some how.
Well it afects mana. And in the help files it says it helps defend mental attacks.
Never heard anyone comment on diferent damage from int.
I think if it did we would notice.
Try a faerie invoker.
Their spells are much more damaging than any other invoker race.
that is not the intelligence itself, rather the high mana that will let them use a skill more efficiently, I think at least.
You know what's overpowered.
Faeries are overpowered.
Especially faerie zerkers. Damn, they are powerhouses!
You're laughing, but you don't actually realise that Fae can't be berserkers for a very good reason. Don't you see the potential for possibly the most overpowered race/class combo?
I'm not even joking either.
Dey
Har har.
BASH!
Faerie hits the ground... DEAD!!
You grin evily.
Not to mention finding a good zerker weapon a faerie could wield would be like impossible.
If int affects spell damage, then whats the point of ever playing a human caster? What do humans REALLY have over elves? Not a whole hell of alot. Halfling have stuff over ogres.
I think you should chose the mana spent on the spell. The more you concentrate, the more it does.
Well, what does a human has over a ogre mealee. Or a human over a storm warrior. Not mutch...
I know what humans have over drow DK, and it is not little.
human got no vulns. no xp pen. can go undead, demon....
Bottom line is casters run the pbase. We don't need to buff them any more.
This has to do with how the game is balanced.
An ogre will hit harder, and have much more benifits from strength than a halfling, but an ogre also has more pains from magic. However, a halfling has all the perks of the highest dex in the game, and dex is just as useful to a warrior as strength, and the halfling has all the perks of a magic resistance.
Now look at a mage, what are the primary stats and what do they do? Do mages really have two stats that matter as much to them as Str and Dex matter to warrior?
Apples and oranges, it's the mechanics of the game. We have a balanced system now. (alright, some of you are going to argue this point, don't, just shut up. We have to assume a balanced system because this is how the system has been all along.) And since we have a balanced system, you can't start buffing up, some races/class and sanding down others without giving each of them something to push it back towards balance.
