Evangelion
There are definitely better ones out there, but it's not really kosher to talk about where to find/how to get rare equipment on the forums. I'd suggest asking around in game and trying to find something that way.

Twinblades713
Because it allows you to experience the game. I am positive you will find someone more than willing to teach you in an IG manner. I've both been taken under someone's wing and taught MASSIVE loads of things, as well as played the part of teacher, helping newbies figure stuff out. The forum isn't the place to learn EQ, etc. It's a place to ask question regarding strategy, OOC stuff, game rules. I do highly doubt Evangelion's post was said with the intentions of "**** off." Questioner
Neewie, don't get us wrong. We strive to be helpful to new players, it is just that we also strive to not allow this mud to turn into a counterstrike replica that focuses just on who has the best weapons and armor. This is a more thoughtful game that takes hard work and effort. The reward you get from the mud depends on how much effort and work you put into the mud. Nightmare_from_hell
In other words, the most rewarding way to learn things in game is to experience them first hand. "Give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime." At the end of the day, this will force RP interaction between characters instead of simply coming to the forums. The reason none of this is posted on the forums is to preserve that feeling you get when you figure something out yourself instead of being handed the knowledge through simply reading a database (which many of us have built over years of I'd'ing equipment we have found). To answer your question, yes, there are socketable swords which are better than the Emerald Sword. If you ask nearly everyone IG, I am sure that they will be more than willing to help you in one way or the other.

Imoutgoodbye
wow - thats really a bs way to treat new players... whats the difference between here and me asking someone in the game? You think THAT'S bs? Then you're in for a long, rough hard ride, padre. Ask here, everyone knows. We've started building a public database. Show a little discipline. It's quite promising. And for the record, I couldn't have told you whether or not there was one, because I don't know.
MadCowDisease
learn from my mistakes. getting upset with people for "not filling you in" is a bad approach. however, i will be more than happy to show you what few things i know IC so long as you RP a reason for me to. And I'm confident in saying that most everyone here will do the same.

L-A
wow - thats really a bs way to treat new players... whats the difference between here and me asking someone in the game? So I can offer to lead you and take you to an aggro mob and lock you in? - no I wouldn't do thi. The last person I saw do it copped a slay too, btw (which was thoroughly deserved as they were being a douche bag to a new player). To be honest, getting all the answers here would take away a lot of the mystery and fun of FL. Half of everything is the journey and learning a lot of this will teach you a LOT more than just where the sword is. For exampe, if I post in response: 'Dragon Castle' You now have to ask where it is, then how to get there etc. If you ask in game you can probably get someone to take you there showing you the way. You can probably ask them about other eq and get taken there. Usually in a group of three everyone ponies up their shopping list and you go get it all. More friends, more interaction and more fun. Neewie
LA i get your point, but im sorry as a new player im not really sure that this is everyones motive, more like keeping stuff secret to keep a power balance. But I might be wrong.

Implementor Anume Posted August 14, 2009 Implementor Report Share Posted August 14, 2009 Usually it is not hard at all to get such info in game. If you really should have problems, ask one of the Imms to give you a shove in the right direction and explore yourself. As others said however, it is usually easier to just get someone to show you. spiegel06
Honestly the hardest thing for me to do is every time i creat a new char is pretend that i dont know the lands. Sometimes i wish i could forget and learn the lands all of over again.

But I might be wrong.[/quote'] It's been said, but I'll say it again - the easiest way to learn this stuff is in game. Not just because it improves your total experience, but because it's also, frankly, easier than having to go through the following sequence: "Where do I get a good sword?" -> "The Dragon Tower." -> "How do I get there?" -> "It's southwest of Miruvhor." -> "How do I get the key?" -> "Kill the hatchling." -> "Who has the sword?" -> "The Draconian King." -> "How do I get to him?" -> "Go upstairs." -> "I died because I was only level 7 and the aggressive mobs found me. Gosh, Balinor, you're such a douche." Much easier for you to just figure out that I'm a douche in character. I know it may seem like rubbish, but trust me, if that was all I had to do keep the balance of power in MY favor?! I would have won this game YEARS ago. Nightmare_from_hell
You can never win... but sure can LOSE a lot! Neewie, you will find that all of those people that are still allowed to post here, will help you in anyway they can. For some answers, they only way you will be able to find them will be to interact in game. For others you might have, they can be answered quickly on the forums here and that will be the end of it. Don't be afraid to ask any questions here on the forums please! You'll get the answer you need pretty quickly (whether that answer is "look around in game" or "Yeah, here's the answer") and then you can continue on your epic quest for world domination of Aabahran. Hope to see you in the game running around like a mad man asking a bajillion questions!
Pali
more like keeping stuff secret to keep a power balance. But I might be wrong. Let me put this as delicately as I can... You knowing where specific pieces of eq can be found has jack to do with whether or not a veteran player can smash you into the ground. We can do this because we've been playing this game for nearly a decade, we know the ins and outs of most areas instinctively, we know the classes, we know the skills, and we know what is effective to use when. We know when to avoid a fight, and we know when it is perfect for us to pick one. We know what moves not to make, and we know how to capitalize on your mistakes. I don't NEED to keep EQ locations and the like secret to skew a power balance. The power balance is already in my favor just fine, because I've been here a VERY long time and that experience serves me well. However, I follow and support the rules regarding keeping EQ locations secret on the forum because I agree with the already-explained rationale behind it. A veteran chess player will beat a new player whether or not the newbie knows about en passant.
Ex-D&Der
Don't be jerks to the guy. Most of this info is given out on AIM anyhow so get off your high horses. Dude just ask in game. Giving out this info on the forum is a no-no because it would ruin the fun the game.
