Cleric or Paladin?

Can anyone offer any suggestions on whether to choose a cleric or paladin? I mean when I compare the two, and I mean good cleric ofcourse, they don't really seem all that different. Would the paladin following the right deity be more offensive than the cleric, also considering the clerics deity, guess thats what I really want to know.... I've played a storm cleric to 50, once and an elf paladin as well. From what I could tell my paladin was actually more offensive and hadn't an easier survival rate than the cleric. I'm no pro, I know, but I want to make a strong cleric, and work on getting descent at playing one, but if they are no stronger than a paladin, I don't see the point in making one honestly... Any input would be great.

Well, pallies overall are more combat oriented, most of their skills are combat, whilst a cleric has overall more potential for pk/rp/cabals. Skill training for each is about the same really. Maybe a little harder for a pally to master wrath and turn etc. But overall I would choose cleric.

All right mastering turn is the same since you spam it alone in a far off place.

Personaly im taking clerics over Paladins.

Why:

Whips/Flails

Insane survival. Word if Blasphemy / Gate if cursed

They get the same Hit/Dam from spell/skills

Bless

Heroism/Frenzy

They trade 1 attack/defense for more ofensive weapons, and a higher AC.

Flametrike blind by Ray blind.

Dual weapon vs mages by ray silence.

Dual weapon vs communer by Spell turning.

You as a good cleric can fight atritions wars with Shamans... in fact with any mage class... i used to try to win by atriction on Invockers (magic resistant race).

VS mealer its even more easy as you just dont stand there getting bash locked and casting wraths in the off places.

With steel wall, calm , and ray you can slowly grind them down.

You now have Faeri fog and fire, so no more thieves dificulties.

In Reality as a paladin you just charge and wrath.

As a cleric you have a lot more of spells you can use now as Isolate, faerie, curse, kick, calm and Ray.

Your only problem is VS neutral aligned players, that will make you cry in frustration as you cannot use dispel and ray deals less damage.

But you can also now choose a magic resistent race with high STR as Dwarf, or a Physical res. Giant.

And there is Holy hand/ Devine Intervention that one cannot talk about.

Personaly i prefer the One god, but many prefer Purity.

Ok did not want to say this, but look around there arent mutch good cleric around, know why, because they need a lot more skill to get kills with.

I think i have 1 kill on my pin good cleric.

On my evil cleric i had 4 by 30 from people attacking me (goods and evils).

And there where 4 paladins on today... 2 elven 1 human and a half elf i think.

Any shaman who's dumb enough to blaspheme a cleric/healer before they curse and can't otherwise get away (running) deserves to lose the kill. Any cleric/healer who lets a shaman drop plague/poison on him and stays in the fight long enough to be blasphemied deserves to die.

any pinn period that doesn't carry a teleport pill deserves to die. Cause no shaman lands disentary til after curse/blasphemy/blind.

Go paladin. Better defense, wrath does more damage than ray with a special paladin thing, no need to worry about movement, heroism, heroism, heroism, charge + goliath = super charge. Clerics are slightly more survivable but paladins more than makes up for that.

With all the rooms in the game its possible to tele too' date=' it is clear that teleport is NOT random. :P Its a spell designed to kill the user instantly.[/quote']

I've teleported to a few areas that weren't dangerous. Emerald, River Wood, etc. However, I have teleported to places where death was instantaneous as well. I've never mastered it with any character, but I believe a previous discussion said that a mastered teleport would lead to less bad rooms. As always, I could be wrong.
