Andre
This may be kind of a silly question or maby been asked already. But why don't monks have more flavour to choose from? I.E Drow monk or something on those lines, is it to do with a balancing issue?
The Forsaken
Monks are beast as it is. Roll one and train it. After getting killed about 45 times you will realize you can destroy anything that breathes....I miss Atsul.
Andre
Yea I recently had an avatar one, which I must say is really over powered. But I would like to see some different flavour. Would be interesting.
mya
In my view only humans know the secret arts of monks. And they only pass them to other humans. Other races are dismissive of using hand to hand to fight when they could use weapons, which is a more effective fighting way. Half-Elves are humans. Drows are not. Undeads, were humans. Now twisted, and dead. MONK MONKS Monks are ascetics who learn their skills at a monastery instead of a guild. Monks must practice rigorous mental and physical training and discipline to achieve their powers. Although they perform incredible physical and mental feats, they cannot cast spells. They receive their powers through heavy meditation. Monks are guardians of knowledge and are also masters of unarmed combat. Most monks shun weapons as the last resort of the weak. Because monks rely on their quickness, they can not wear heavy clothing. Also, due to their exstensive training monks excel beyond most mortals in their skill in hand to hand fighting, surpassing normal boundries. Monks are also able to stay the killing blow to their opponent, instead granting them mercy. See also: MEDITATE, ENCUMBERANCE, EMPOWERMENT, STANCE, OFFENSIVE, DEFENSIVE, MERCY. mya
I'll bet on my Storm Giant monk over your Halfling one any day of the week. Errr.... Forgot about the Mental Vuln and the Magic resistence. Make it my Mino Monk vs your Drow gimp.
jibber
Chakera's depend on hitroll, and dexterity. (Or at least, that's what I've decided). A half-elf monk usually will trump any human monk. Typically, Mya, you come at me with a Mino Monk, and they give me a half-monk, I'll stomp all over you. Seriously. Strength has never been the be all end all. I've found that I hit a lot more chakera's even on a race with +1 more dex than human. I've had a lot of monks, too. The Forsaken
Sure you might land a few more Chakera's from a halfling monk...but think about getting airthrashed by a minotaur. Plus then you'd have a monk with charge and dualwielding axes....so the end of this is: Charge Chii bolt. Air Thrash All with a monk hitting Chakeras dual wielding axes. corpsestomp
The only way I could ever train a monk is if I went adventurer first, because there is no way I'm going to train all their weapons to 100 with only one attack.

corpsestomp
Pfft, better than nothing. Also, if I remember, monks get pretty crappy rolls to start with, so it'd be helpful to have trains done, and since monks suck hard until like...20, the pets would be fantastical. Nirn
lol by tomorrow there will be 50 monks running around. I would make a Half-Elf monk but wanted him C/N not good. I mentioned in the forums a few years ago that I think Half elves being half human should be able to go neutral.
