No, none of you are invited...especially that Questioner guy with his swine flu! :P

However, I do invite all of you to toss the DM some ideas for making a level 1 campaign slightly more interesting. No, no venerable red dragons!

It's a basic little dungeon crawl with an undead orc warrior for the boss battle....shame all of them thought clerics were worthless.....

Make the Evil the good guys, and the Good guys the Evil guys.

Ie: Zombie Orc is trying to prevent some sorcerer from doing some ritual to own the world.

Heroes come in and kill the Orc, thwarting the orc plans and allowing the Sorcerer to do something Nasty.

Then make them have to beat the Sorcerour on the next campaign.

Other DM ideas....

Make a competing Party that is working in the same world as them.

They get to see them, even interact with some party members aiding them, or not. Make this party a tactical counter for the PC. If they have to much Cheese, slice them with the party. I am sure you can find a reason.

- Make NPC's that grow in power. Some guy that was a Begger at the start of the campaing can find some patron and become a Merchant Guard.

The rewarded by valor and join a Knights Order.

A world that grows.... not a static world.

- If you running a pure dungeon crawl make a big monster, and make it make a sound, like a spider.

You make spider hiss before engaging the Party and forcing them to run for their life. Alow them to escape but the spider must be a "Hoo ****" monster.

Latter make that sound appear in the Adventure.

"You are traveling a long corridor and sudently you hear a hissing sound ahead."

It will be very fun as they will try to run away at this hint.

LOL...I like the last idea about the hissing.

NPC's that grow in power are common in my adventures. I like my villians to stick around and develop. PC's are welcome to explore or go anywhere they want. My DMing style is strengthened by what I perceive as my ability to adapt my stories to their needs/wants/cues.

Other than that, so far I have the grand idea of putting in a Doomsayer....I have a feeling they're going to get their butts handed to them towards the end and rather than scale back my encounter, I'll just boost them with the Doomsayer's Gaze. Nothing like some divine "inspiration" to make a newer player feel good about their first level. :D

Start them out in a bar.

Got one. It's called the Foul Urchin. It's primary drink is an urchin plucked from an aquarium behind the bar, crushed, and dropped into some cheap wine. The locals don't drink it (it's disgusting and foul), but they enjoy talking adventurers into trying it. If they can hold it down, free drinks for the night! Failure to do so (DC Fortitude 20) results in 2d4 rounds of illness. :D

What?! Oh' date=' I've already decided that since this is their first time with me as DM, I'd introduce the [b']Deck of Many Things to them. Ah, the things I do to the uninitiated. :D

It's just too bad I'm limited in the number of ways I can say this:

No, never, not in a million years, no way, nuh uh, negative, etc...

Also, a little constructive criticism from an old player; use the monster manual monsters...Not hobgoblins with 40 hp and greataxes. Your players will thank you, as my elf cleric did NOT.

deck of many things...LOL...that must be quite common during game sessions. I think every DM likes throwing that out there... The first time I ever encountered it, I was playing a Druid, first time I had ever played D&D it was 3.0 We met a Seer deep in the heart of the woods, she was tending some of her livestock when we approached, she called us by name and told us we had been expected and invited us inside. Needless to say, we were all wary. The Seer told us that she could part some information, if we were to accept it or not, was entirely up to us. Our DM described the whole thing in such detail, it was so easy to picture. We were ready to be on our way when the Rogue of our little party wanted to know if those cards could divine the future. The DM got a big smile across his face... The Seer said, that should one of us wish to know their fate, we all must do so and by our word agree to continue on, no matter the outcome...of course, we did... Then, our DM had us roll a die 4, whatever we rolled minus 1 was how many cards we could pull from the deck...so, if we rolled a 1 our future thus far was unseen and destiny was still ours to command. I got to draw two cards, one gave me enough exp to rank a few times and the other card I got to level on the next creature I killed. Needless to say, my group mates were not so lucky...lol

Though, the other times I allowed myself to get suckered into tempting fate...I wasn't quite so lucky...but that was my fault...I like to gamble from time to time.

You got resurrected by a god and given gifts as my way of apologizing...I was rusty...;) Also, it was you guys that voted for the DM screens to be down....funny how I got the screens back so quickly. ;)
