a-guitarist
... through out the years. Everyone of you who out RPed me, out played me, kicked my *** from Solace to Darkhaven, from the Red Dragon to Myrek- often blind. To everyone who summoned me while I was sleeping, cast blind on me, and then cackled in glee as I ran around like a ... well, like myself. To all the immortals who would watch my demons do something stupid (cast a fireball at the duck vendor in Val Miran) and take some pity on me by having him pick all my crap up and give it back to me, in disgust. To the immortals who would watch silently, and to the ones who would watch vocally and visibly. To cabal members who got promoted before me, faster than me, and who would save my *** in cabal wars. To everyone of you: Thank you. When I started mudding, it was an escape from the high school life I had. I kept mudding to escape the problems I was having throughout adolescence and young adulthood. Why the thank you? Am I dying? Nope. But because this place, FL, refuses to stop giving back to me. That is why the thank you comes to you guys. I've gotten a job because of this game. Although technically not employed yet, I am on the top of a list for job openings in the county. I just took the second half of my civil service exam for an entry level job, and even though I have some issues (I hate calling them disabilities) that prevented me from succeeding in college, and took near ten years from me, the months of time I spent connected have taught me to type quickly and efficiently. A 24k a year job might not be a lot for many people, for me it's more than I could have dreamed of two years ago. Because of all of you, I will have a job, health benefits, retirement, and the treatment I need. I may not be as fast as some of you, only 84wpm with 98% accuracy, but because you were ruthless, murderous, witty, funny, conversational, and friendly (all at the same time) I'm getting a job. Thank you. Every single one of you. Thank you. a-g
f0xx
84 wpm is almost double my record and is quite admirable. Good luck and hope everything goes well.

Grim_Reefer
I'm 22, have no schooling, type 112 wpm, and make 49k a year. Next.
a-guitarist
Sorry, let me clear up my criteria for something to be considered a job. You have to be able to write the truthful and official job title on government documents and then, as a result, fill out tax forms. Unemployment, while an income, does not qualify as a job, Grim- although you can still use the 'I work for the government' as a pick up line at all your local crack slums. I won't tell the ladies, we'll keep that between us. a-g (ps: Drug dealer, again, is not a real job)
khaede
Wow, Grim. Don't be such a prick. Congrats AG. I always said the only thing of any worth (in real life) to come from this game was typing speed...glad it paid off for someone!
Imoutgoodbye
Congrats! And don't tell Grim where I hid his food stamps.

f0xx
type 112 wpm I will be honest - I don't believe that.
Imoutgoodbye
I will be honest - I don't believe that. There was a kid in my typing class in high school that did 130 wpm consistently. It's possible, but in this case, not plausible, but then....he's a joker.

I know a lot of FLers (not sure if they're still here) were in the 90's easy. There was a thread about it awhile back. a-g
The-Nameless
anyone know an address for a speed test? I consistantly pull over 110 WPM.

jibber
I pull about 103WPM, and that's nearly 100% accuracy. Any faster and all the mistakes are just jumbled up words. Congrats A-g.
Zhokril
It depends what sort of typing test you are talking about. In one with text you haven't seen before plus symbols and all, I'm around 110 on a good day. On familiar (read: text I know), I can do 130 wpm. L-A
What accuracy plebs? Last 'actual' typing test I did scored me at 93wpm 98% accuracy (it was actually 96wpm but they adjust it down when your acc. falls).... I wasn't actively MUDDING at the time.... If I'm playing constantly I'm a lot faster..... I'm not even particulary fast (or I don't think so). Any amount of consistant practice would give me considerably more speed. Amusingly, I work in IT - and most of the guys I work with can't type. Sure its not exactly something that is requied but I find it sad and pathetic when they work on PCs all day (unless you're soldering mainboards...) and can't do 30 - 50wpm.... Grats on what will soon be a job - glad to hear things are looking up mate. Cheers, L-A
a-guitarist
The test I took was basically a page out of an old office manual from the 90s (I got to type about 14.4 and 9.6 kbs modems). All the fun symbols an office worker would typically use, !@$%(),.?!-\/ were it for symbols/punctuation. So nothing hard for any mudder. I think what set me back, speed wise, was the sections with numbers. I've rarely used the numbers on the regular keypad. I've always used the number pad for that sort of thing. I'd also like to think that if I wasn't on the tail end of this sinus infection I'd have topped out around 100- but I'm pretty sure this is my ceiling. Each test I take I'm around 80-85. Number pad stuff I can do 120 "wpm" (I'm not sure if it's calculated the same way, a test I took last year gave me this speed) there. Another thing is that the keyboards at the test section where set up slightly differently than mine here- specifically the arrow key location in relation to the ctrl key, and the home/end/page up-down/delete buttons. I use those often when I'm typing and never really realized how important their location in muscle memory were to me. And LA brought up something interesting I've recently found. A lot of my tech savvy computer friends don't type exceptionally well, and more than I thought are the two (or four) finger typers. They're mostly programmers- which makes sense to me now as they're not typing long reports, but fractured lines of code with symbols and what not. Sometimes I find it funny to watch them butcher the terminal by watching their fingers and failing to realize they've added an adjacent character with a keystroke. Oh well. Thanks, again, all. I'll be around again, I'm sure. a-g
Ex-D&Der
Congrats man--although I can't say you're welcome, since you taught me RP. I would say FL also helped with my writing. Cabal apps became all about having one clear idea--a big help in grad school.

BigPapa
My hat is off to you A-G. You overcame a lot and now will be productive member of society, contributing taxes to our fair government! Seriously, Outstanding! As far as the typing, over time your skills deteriorate, but with experience, I am much better finding the buttons that need to be pushed and exactly the right pressure to apply .
