Aulian
And I know you like to watch people and not have them know that you're there, because their actions are more candid. But think of it like this: When you're roleplaying, perhaps its okay for your actions to be influenced by whether or not your cabal IMM is online. Perhaps it's okay for that to inspire you to greatness. And if we have IMMs on a lot more, then people will be inspired to greatness a lot more. So maybe it's okay for people to know you're watching. I really didnt want to comment on this thread but I really like this last point. Dont wait for people to screw up, encourage them to be the best and put the most effort they can in. Imoutgoodbye
maybe set up a script to put random equipment in the pits occasionally... or even just laying around on the ground. I swear to god this is already happening. I'm finding the oddest crap (I won't say what, but two extremely sought after shields and one bad@$$ mace, all that I've NEVER been able to get my hands on, all unique) laying around all the freakin' time. Or maybe I'm just getting lucky and picking up other people's loot scraps or there's a lot of deleting prior to corpse retrieval.

tassinvegeta
Strange. I picked up a very rare shield myself not too long ago.
Dead Voodoo Doll
Some of the things on here are so laughable. Like Twins always pulling the RP heart string. Um.. yeah, I got silent killed by your Psi and his charmie before level 20 and you sacked my backpack and half my ****. Did I complain? No. Did I go to the prayer forum? No. Did I ruin your goodbye thread? No. Are you just as bad as the people you rail against? Yes. >>>> *** THE MUD IS WHAT YOU MAKE OF IT *** <<<< And for the record this mud is so newbie friendly, you have no idea. Dremorian killing newbs, no keys just conveniently placed right inside of locked doors, a ****ing asston of no exit rooms spread all over the freaking world, aggressive mobs, no study assassinate, 3 hasted illusions ganging you. Aabahran is a patty cake convention these days. You know what people do on Halo? Kill each other. WoW? Camp out and kill people. So on and so on. Diablo? Camp and kill. When Starcraft2 comes out? Kill people.
H&R
Shields can be disarmed without the player noticing it. By gateguards when you are wanted, for instance.
Twinblades713
I can't really refute something that vague, DVD. If you feel I was ****ty, sorry. Can't offer reasoning past that as I don't know the situation. And SC2 is awesome. I will go there to kill people.
EyeSeeU
I have a massive headache right now, but I wanted to say that nothing is going to change unless WE ALL WANT TO DO SOMETHING TO CHANGE IT. Remember the world is what YOU make of it. No matter what fingers you point or how you slice your loaf, it is up to YOU and YOU alone. P.S. There are several ideas above that we should all begin to do if we really want to change things. So lets get to work!
HouselessRogue
I really don't know what to do or what to say. I do know that I love this mud very much and it is killing me to watch it go down. I hardly ever see 20+ players on and there have been numerous occasions that I was the only one on. I keep hearing "lead by example". I am trying to do just that in game. Outside of the game, I have recruited three players. Two that are having a really hard time adjusting (and probably won't last) and one that is doing pretty well but has some serious time constraints. I have contributed writing whenever the staff has given me the opportunity. I don't mind it at all. It is actually rather rewarding. Because? Well, this place has always given me somewhere to go. A place to blow off steam. A place to pretend. And for someone like me who is all grown up but has an overactive imagination, it has been a godsend. Frankly, the last three years of my life have been crap. Lots of bad things have happened that I won't elaborate on. I play this game to escape all that. I am very, very thankful that FL exists. I just wish everyone could enjoy themselves again. And the negativity.. man! we need to get away from that. I am guilty of it myself. I get mad just like everyone else. I am learning to step back from it and pay attention to what is really going on. Sometimes, not so surprisingly, I have found that I simply overreacted. Lastly, there is a lot of hostility. Some among players. Some in player to player relations. Some in Imm to player relations. We have to find a way to put that to rest. There is nothing wrong with a little friendly competition. I just think we would do well to remember that behind every character there is a real person. A real person who is trying to play and enjoy a game. Teralis
We need a way to get the game out there to young players again, how many of you and past players started playing at about mid teen range, Iwould say a hell of alot, I remember stll being one of the oldest players on when this mud first started and being like cool the good players are still in school so I can log on and train some. If we could figure out a way to bring this age group back then they would tell thier friends and so on and so on until we are at our once formal glory. Perhaps tshirts or even some kicken graphic on the bottom of scateboards.lol I dont know Im to old to figure this out and my kids not a teen yet so I cannot ask him. Just some ideas. I know grim can add paper fliers to the drugs he sell at the schools in his areas.

Cephirus
Crap, I just about wrote an essay and because I autologged out, I lost my post. I would like to see the timer increased please. Anyways, since I lost all of what I wrote, I am going to try to summarize as much as possible, so please bare with me. #1: I agree with just about everything that most of you have posted. Some of it I am more iffy on, but that is simply a matter of opinion. Anyways, much of what Myrek posted really hit home for me. I think we should definitely open up the Academy for all to join and not have it tied to any Cabal aside from Herald. Herald would also be required to act as emissaries/teachers for everyone as well, in addition to their other contributions/abilities. Going along with this, I also think we should update the mud school again. While it does help with those that are somewhat familiar with a mud, maybe we should offer a seperate area for those that don't. Allow them to really learn about the different commands and how to use them. The syntax at times can be difficult to adjust to, I know it was for me at first on AR, and the learning curve is steep. If you guys want me to, I would be willing to build an area on paper/word document of some type and give you guys an example of a few rooms/coded stuff I think would be helpful and you guys can take it from there, or whatever. #2: Players: We need to, as was mentioned before, let things go. We have all killed each other, many of us some of those times were not very classy, did not rp, did nothing to really show that we were anything but hungry for that kill or loot to brag to our online/offline friends. Sadly, this will probably never fully go away. However, the good news is, that we can do something about it. I myself have gotten so upset at a death that I got my stuff and just logged off to blow some steam off. I am sure many of you have done just the same. I challenge you to not do that. Instead, if you have already rp'ed with that character before, take the time to consider how your character is going to react. Are you going to be afraid of them? They did just kill you. Many default to the I am going to seek revenge, while this is not bad, try and think of a new or unique way to approach it. Maybe try and befriend them, turn your enemy into your ally. Try bribing them to leave you be for a year or so. Obviously it becomes harder when we discuss good vs. evil as they are expected not to be friends or to ally with each other, however... #3: Immortals: I ask that the imms not jump on the characters when this happens and see where they go with it. If they are not really rp'ing when say evil character kills a good mob and the good character just simply goes along with it. Pull them aside and OOC explain to them what is going on and why they should be abhorred by it. Give them a chance to maybe realize their error and make better of it. This is mostly for those that do not do well at rp, or are simply new to it, but I think it would help develop characters rp if we more promote what is generally considered good rp and help guide rp that is weak or not well thought out. Some of us are naturally better at it then others. This goes more for the players, but try and help others with their rp too. If someone's explanation seems a bit batty, question it a bit with simple questions, but don't bombard them because they will quickly become detached and give up. Maybe even with your questions try and help guide them with questioning examples. For instance, bob is playing a paladin that just killed a good mob and you witness this. You question bob, why would you do such a thing? Bob is confused and seems unsure of what you are getting all worked up about. Instead of continuing along the line of questioning, say something like, you are a paladin, are you not sworn to protect those of the light? I know some of this is basic, but maybe it will help some people.
Nirn
Immortal point of view This seems to be to a discussion that could hold the very future of FL in the balance. I would like to hear from the immortals and what they think?

Nothing changes in FL until we concoct something or the Imms come up with something that holds more water than a bloated pregnant woman.

I would like to hear from the immortals and what they think? I think you are over reacting a bit. Just a bit though We all want more players. We all want more IMM interactions. We all want more bug fixes, new areas and so on and so on. In the end, we all have lives, we all have jobs, we all have kids and so on and so on. I've spent more than 10 hours a day playing FL before, nowadays I can't find time to even log in. [edit] And I don't even have kids, family and/or wife/GF yet. I am grateful that the mud is up and running when I have time to sit behind the PC. That is all.
