The Gathering Storm

Dead Voodoo Doll

Recommended Posts

I'm a little torn...I had it in my hand this afternoon, knowing full well Robert has passed on. I didn't buy it...then I realized my copies of the rest of series were read and reread to near memorization. I think I'll be back at the bookstore tomorrow...

I'm not sure how you guys can read that series. I started a long time ago, ready about 5 books and quit because it was boring and it never ended. I got tired of all the backstabs, double backstabs, triple backstabs, dead characters being ressurected in different forms....ugggh! It just needs to end.

what book is it? I think i quit reading at 6.

this is the 12th and yes Robert Jordan has passed. Two years ago from a very rare heart disease. Read the book and its great. All the plot lines, etc were already written or dictated on audio tape, the new author (Brandon Sanderson, not an anonymous ghost) just did dialogue/descriptions/put everything together, etc.

I have I read it its great. Brandon Sanderson only fleshed it out Robert Jordan had about a third of it already written including the ending, and left many notes for Brandon. The original book jordan was intending to right according to Brandon Sanderson who is an english teacher at BYU was going to be well over 1400 pages Brandon looking more at like 1800. He also wrote the mistborn trilogy which i thought was amazing. Basically for a ghost writer though its not much different. Yea the 5th was pretty boring if im right cause thats when certain main characters disappeared for like two books. Perrin was gone for an entire book and mat was completely gone in the next one I was beginning to think he would take al thor out of one.

Yes I agree with Dragon, I was playin wow and a buddy of mine on there was like hey they assigned brandon sanderson to finish WoT. I was like who the **** is that, he'd read him before so i picked up Elantris, not bad for a stand alone so i bought the mistborn books, they're amazing, one of the most innovative magic systems used in a fantasy series in some time, i get burned out on the whole mage fireball boom thing, things like mistborn, WoT that have magic persay but not your run of the mill mages are what I enjoy, but anyways, he's not unknown, he's not a ghost and its done really well, and I LOVE jordan but if i have to read that damn tolkien style 4 page description of a dress thing one moer time i'm gonna puke, i loved the way they were wrote but he did describe things in excess, If you enjoy'd the WoT series please get book 12 even though its not written purely by Jordan it was amazingly well done.

But at least the pacing was better or it was a passing mention of stuff lol i swear jordan took lessons from tolkien, "i think i'll describe the hobbits meals down to the number of steam wafts from the hot food and the exact in detail texture of the cold food isn't satisfactory until i've written for 2 pages" lol

like i said, get the book its good :)

I greatly enjoyed this volume in the series. I'm also of the opinion that Sanderson is better at writing epic battle sequences than Jordan. Compare Dumai's Wells to the Battle for the White Tower...

I thought Sanderson excelled though I was a little caught off guard as to how much he changed the "voice" of Mat.

Did Fayl die ? I couldn't stand reading her passages. They made me sick.

Nope, Faile did not. Unfortunately.
