Ogre, Fire, Or Minotaur?

So I haven't really come up with an rp I wanna play with an invoker, but I still wanna play a berserker. So I've been tryin to decide. I started a stone zerk and changed my mind. It looked interesting, but I would rather play an ogre or preferrably a minotaur. Especially with my rp concept, a minotaur would be nice.

From those who have played zerks, any suggestions on race? I think an ogre would be a lot of fun. I might take him down the path of fury, I figure a two handed approach isn't a bad idea for an ogre. If I went mino, it would be path of devastation.

P.S. If anyone can think of some intriguing rp ideas for an invoker, shoot me a pm. I'd be interested in lookin in to it. I just can't seem to come up with something that interests me, though an invoker would most likely last longer in my hands.

I think ogres are very, very strong berzerkers. In my opinion the best race, for a number of reasons:

1) They have monster HP.

2) They have improved bonuses with all weapons.

3) Even after being toned down, their HP regen is still really, really nice (plus they get auto-mastery in the 'Regeneration' zerk skill)

4) They have very high strength, which is helpful for a lot of berzerker skills.

The thing I noticed most with Gorbak was the HP regen. Kicking dirt and sleeping for a tick is really useful with ogre zerks. You can easily sleep back a few hundred HP in a tick if you get a good one.

Berzerkers rule.

What weapons bonuses do they have? I didn't see anything about that in the help files.

And how do they compare with minotaurs? I read the essay on zerks and the person posited that minotaurs were perhaps the best race for a zerk. I can see the benefits of an ogre as well. Either would work for my RP.

1. If you want to put stress on your haymaker, the best path is Ogre zerker in watcher with that nice dragon. This combo is also known as the best combo for killing blademasters.

2. If you want to put stress on your flee + charge tactics then mino zerker in gladiator is the way to go. Axe bonus, charge bonus if wielding axes plus the fact that NO mage knows how to use axes will make you THE ultimate mage killer. You might have some problems with meles but that can be avoided if you are a smart player and use the current situation in your advantage via cabal politics :)

3. Fire giant in nexus, has the potential of highest damage output and on the other hand can eat incredible amounts of damage and die in couple of rounds.... I wouldn't really recommend that unless you are a super experienced player.

That is my opinion.

Never played a gladiator, but, I have played numerous savants. I would go with neutral as it will invite less damage from spells that negatively affect opposing allignments. As for race, both the minotaur and ogres as berzerker have their bonuses, but with the abundance of rare magical and physical axes to be found, I would likely choose the minotaur.

Side note, my first invoker's rp was to be the peoples enchanter, to grant bonuses to those around me not for the sake of seeing one side prevail over the other, but to aid in balancing the world. If I noted someone killing someone, I took it as my job to turn the tide the next time those two met in battle.

Forget Fire giant. To big Vuln and little advantages.

I would go with Ogre Evil Devastation.

- Buffed up Blood-haze (roar to ignore damage).

- Best output damage, greater than Fire giant and their silly fire weapon only bonus.

- Best HP's ever.

- Best Regen ever.

Or Minotaur Anger.

- Mino charge.

- Haymaker to drop spells throw shield, then Charge spam.

- Ignore the Dual axes thing. You will get Outmeeled by everyone with skill. Unless you are an Real Monster. I doubt it.

Most of my deaths to minotaurs are mostly due to one thing. Charge lag throw protective shield.

So much fun in the last two posts :P

Where to begin?

Never played a gladiator' date=' but, I have played numerous savants. I would go with neutral as it will invite less damage from spells that negatively affect opposing allignments.[/quote']

The neutral alignment DOES NOT decrease the damage from spells, so that statement is absolutely not true.

As for race, both the minotaur and berzerker have their bonuses.

- Haymaker to drop spells throw shield, then Charge spam.

Let me ask you one thing my dear - would that tactic EVER work against a character of yours? We both know it wouldn't, so why give false advices to people who need them? Sometimes I have a feeling you talk all this crap just so you can kill all the newbies with your mages ingame :P

And wtf does a lag throw protective shield mean? Zerkers can't throw shields...

I think Mya meant: lag THROUGH protective shield. She meant that protective shield decreases charge lag. Personally I do not think this is true.

As for spell damage, Mya plays a lot of clerics. They have align-specific damage spells (dispel evil for instance) that don't do as much damage to neutrals. Going the other way, neutrals can go through protection and that means more damage to those communers.

I think that Croyvern meant to say minotaur and ogre (not berserker). Just a typo.

As for the intent of this post, I wanted to say simply that ogres are the best race pick in every cabal/align, except for maybe the charge-lag tactic of minotaurs, if you want to pursue that.

Mali, you just made me think of this...

(viewer discretion is advised)

School boy: Hey nice cow outfit. Where can I pick one of those up at,

the gay zoo? Homo.

Danny: No, no. Its not a cow. Its a a Minotaur. Its a creature of

myth. And he got this one out of your moms closet.

Wheeler: She let me keep it after I made love to her.

Back to the topic, Ogre or Minotaur, Minotaur or Ogre... I myself would probably choose Minotaur, however I feel Ogres are the better choice.

You really do hate that dragon and haymaker combo. It only happened once ;p

Have you considered a dwarf berzerkers:

You gain:

- Magic resistance.

- Great HP and constitution.

- Bonuses to some berserker skills.

- Good strength.

You give up:

- Giant size (there are times when this is a good thing...)

- Giant size 'weapon bonus'

You still have:

- A vuln. Only minotaur wouldn't with the previous selections. All 'vuln' weapons are cleavable.

Stone giant is probably one of the best for neutral, though if you don't want it and MUST have one of those three pick what you think will be more fun.

Ogres - are good, especially when people think magic vuln = pinata. Just remember you'll need to bring your BIG BRASS ONES to every single battle to come out on top. Just because you have 1500 - 2000hp doesn't make it easy, the drawbacks can be very, very real in some match ups.

Mino - charge;flee;charge;flee is NOT a viable, long term, PK tactic if you ask me. Mino is great for RP can charge bonuses when used correctly. Lack of a vuln really makes them stand out vs the other giant sized races here. I'd be surprised if you didn't need yoru BIG BRASS ONES in most matches here - its something inherent to the berserker class.

Overall, zerks are great fun but you are going to die more than some other melee classes. They aren't known as 'melee invokers' for nothing :-)

Well Foxx' date=' tell that to all the evil warmasters who fall to divine retribution. For a smart fellow, you did not think this statement through. Note to all, maybe Foxx does not know everything. Maybe.[/quote']

They didn't understand if you make the healer move five rooms the spell goes away? Recast - sure, but you're going to run dry of mana long before I run out of moves

If this is your only concern about an evil then I wouldn't worry too much. A healer can (maybe) trash a WM inductee neutral as easily as a WM inductee evil.
