Psycho Child
I delete alot of characters, heck I even deleted on today. I was wondering why other people delete thier characters, and see if I'm maybe a bit overboard on it. There are several ways one of my characters can get deleted: 1. A mob death pre-50, if I can't get a rez. Mob deaths are totaly avoidable, and I have no one but myself to blame for these. I get mad at the character, and delete. 2. A player death that was not my fault. My computer crashes, internet lags or disconnects, getting totaly raped where there was nothing I could have done to make a difference. Usualy instant deletes here, no hesitation. 3. Boredom. Usualy happens about halfway through training, I just don't feel that the characters rp is going anywhere, and either never log on again, or just straight up delete. Discuss. Warpnow
1. 1 death out of 61 is very meaningless. I don't delete unless I lose a conpoint pre-50, and even then not usually. 2. Every death is your fault. You got raped? Why did he catch you. 3. I usually delete out of boredom, but its usually AFTER I am trained...and begin developping the char's RP, then decide I have a better idea. Psycho Child
I think I've only had less than ten characters that I kept long enough to lose a con-point. Hence why I havent been in a cabal since early 1.0 Edit: Not all pdeaths are mostly unavoidable. Certain race/class combos can kill certain race/class combos everytime. I usually delete when I don't feel I'm getting anywhere with a character, or get frustrated every time I log on.

Warpnow
Then you should have been more ready. Should have never let him attack. Should have been better trained, or had more scrolls/potions/herbs for protections. Should have had better eq. Thinking, "There is not a single thing I could improve to change the outcome of that fights" is a terrible, terrible outlook on pk.
Psycho Child
Thats fully preped, with all nececsary items, decked (nonWinter/Gear), and what is the point of having a character if you never fight with it? Yes I could have a character that loged off everytime somone was in my pk range, but if I was going to do that I would just go log onto an IRC RP Chat Room. Anithraril
I don't delete post 30, pre 30 usually if I don't like the race/class combo or come up with one I think I would like better. Delpasses are your friend.
Deykari
I'll be happily playing a character up, ranking and training and whatnot, and I'll spy a PK log of some class I've never played. "Mmm, that's interesting!" delete delete Roll up that class. See ANOTHER PK log/discussion on another class, repeat process. It takes me AGES to find a race/class combo that I can play long enough to condie. Out of 5 pinns, I've had two condead, one denied, and two more that I revealed on here that haven't been denied, but I don't log onto for that reason. And whenever I delete a character, for whatever reason, I almost always regret it right afterwards. Dey
Mudder
EyeseeU/Chrinchton. Hey man its funny you just posted that. I am VERY close to posting the score of your arch nemesis.. Well at least you were my arch nemesis, I never did get the kill on you. Damn crazy armored dwarves that really hurt because of deathweaver. You might not know the char i'm talking about (its a certain syndi back in the day) but i'll be posting it soon. I want to condeath him (hes at knocking) before I post the score because well... I'd like to play him to the end (my first time) and I dont want to be denied before I can do that. Also. Psycho Child. I used to get TDP syndrome all the time and do what your doing. It stunts your growth as a player in PK/RP horribly. Until you suck it up and take a death and learn from it. I used to say I did that too, i've taken chars half way and deleted them. Thinking, hey I just got sick of him. I've recently not lost interest at all, and i'm learning a lot of things. I've been here 7 or so years, maybe more. And i'm learning new things. Thats sad. I wish I had not been such a damn TDP'er back in the day. Though I feel thats a phase everyone goes through (some longer than others) and once you pass through it your ability as a player rises incredibly fast. Anyone else agree? Guest emp_newb
well try a diff race/class combo, and if it continues, start refining your pk skills. Also, there is no race/class combo that can outright beat one race/class combo every time. Im not saying it won't be hard, but nothing is unbeatable. But just because you can't doesnt mean it can't be done.

Winter and gear are the areas for becoming decked, along with dischord/desolation. Some good items outside eq areas, but not many great ones. There is no race/class combo that CANNOT take down another Race/Class combo. I mean, didn't despiser's ninja knight take down a vamp? I think I remember that. C) Running temporarily from an opponent you cannot, at that moment, beat is not the same as logging out every time someone in your pk logs on. Also, sounds to me like someone has been playing non-pinn, becaue...yes...classes are unbalanced in the 20-40s majorly, but that's why you rank. Psycho Child
I've pinned every race, and every class except paladin's (cause I hate them) and necro's (cause they hate me). Never been to gear, only been to winter twice, never been to discord/deso save teleports. And I am not saying that these pdeaths where there was nothing I could do happen very often. They are very rare, but they CAN happen. On the rare occasions they do, I delete.
Warpnow
That is where I disagree. Every time I die, its my fault. Every time you die, its your fault. And you really need to start going to eq areas.

This is like saying that because Calandra outmeleed Grishnak, any ninja should've been able to. (Reference for old players)

mya
I delete normaly at situation like the one happenign to me today. Roled a human berserker. Solo took him to rank 5, then died in the arena from trying to flee from a bit bellow half HP's. Insta delete. But i had have a a drow cleric that died at Rank 1 and i did not delete because it had a high roll. Never deleted high rank PC, they get shelfed for when i wish to ever play them. Once had a thief that got 2 rounded by surprise by a Fire giant, and did not delete. IF you couldnt do anything about it there is no reason to prevent it. And you should know that EQ is no substitute for Skills. Not that i have a lot of skills, but i refuse to play a class where all i do is gather great EQ and go spam bash and have them die in front of me. Mot people who attack me forget to use their vs class spell/skills and just then do spam something.
-Totenkopf-
Haha any death pre-50 gets me ****ty.. I took a mobdeath last night (partially due to lag, partially due to not having sanc).. But, Already ditched to characters in the last fortnight, going to play it through, pretend it never happened (though it still sits there in the back of my mind)
Warpnow
Oh, ya, I get pissed when I die pre-50. So pissed I often stop playing for a few hours, or days or weeks sometimes. However, I am opposed to deleting unless your rp a death or its for a very serious RL reason.
