Imoutgoodbye
So, I was thinking of either rolling something for Savants or Warmasters, probably Warmasters seeing as how I haven't been in that cabal yet...and seeing as how I usually play at such a time as I'm mostly on by myself...I'm thinking combat training intensive. So, should I make a monk or a blademaster? I've had quite a few monks with great success in the 30's range. Can't seem to hold up at 50 vs. the giant type melees, mainly due to lack of health and never mastering anatomies. Blademasters scare me as I've never played one and my few encounters with them left me beat down pretty quickly. Again, anatomy dependent. Either way, I plan on fully training whatever I roll this time around. It seems I have three main issues in PK: Stacking commands into the client buffer, not mastering things, and this insane refusal to run from fights I think I should be winning but am not....strange affliction, I tell you... So, monk vs. blademaster...what's the better class?
Grim_Reefer
Monk if you want to put in 200+ hours. Blademaster if you want to have access to all kinds of OP **** in a limited amount of time.
MadHieronimo
Do an evil monk, there needs to be a strong evil monk at pinn. But if you have a problem mastering things, maybe neither are a good choice But I'd say Savant need people more than Warmaster anyway, especially with Virarc deleted. Long live the Tower!! corpsestomp
I say blademaster, just cause you've never done one.
Celerity
I say just concentrate on playing anything at 50 for at least 200 hours without deleting! Some specialized monk combos aside (even then, considering some insane blm combos...), I think most people would agree that blademasters are by far the more potent class. mya
The problem is Blademasters brought quite an imbalance to the game. They do to much stuff, some of it that should not be done, vs any class. While their fails/vulnerabilities are none or very difficult to exploit. Lets talk about Invokers. A class that wins by bursting damage faster than their opponent. Here comes Mr. Blademaster. Suddenly they cannot open combat vs them. Cause it's get snake countered. They cannot use the most favorable spell because it gets spell killed. While the invockers is trying to cast his spells and failing, the Battlemage is criticaling his heart out. Someone tell me what is the counter class to a Blademaster ? None. The reason i got tired of playing a Paladin was the fact i was getting Lag locked by Elven anatomy critical. At least with clerics, i don't die lag locked (except by Minotaurs ). Valek, do a Battlemage in Savant. The only way this days you can overcome a Warmaster is by Outmeeling them. My stick goes for avian bridge. That way you avoid pesty elven anatomies. Elven sneak is out. Monks, Blademasters and ferals sense abilities make this a bit useless. Once a rare bonus for monks is now a common skill. Elven anatomies is present in most blademasters. Avians have same Dex, and autofly. Great for saving cash, and after death. 19 STR and good gives you acess to something very useful. ...

corpsestomp
Mya, look at the Dagoneto vs Funtador fight. A weapon change(after Dago picked a stance) won Funtador the fight. Being able to identify the blademaster's stance(detect magic or knowing what they do) makes them easy to counter. It's just like a monk going offensive or defensive, it's just that blms can change stances more easily than a monk.
Pali
To counter your examples, Mya... both my paladins and my invokers of the past have done just fine against even the best blms around during their times. You just need to alter your tactics to counter what the blm is doing.

alldaymuddin
HEh, nothing can really beat Blademasters? As an evil cleric, I have done in a number of blademasters, the thing is, you have to pay alot of attention and be fearless, the more ground you give them the harder it is to kill them.. mya
Depends on the person behind the Blademaster. And the power combo. You will not have a easy time vs a Dwarven Elder Blademaster Warmasters. As opposed to a newbie Gnome Sindicate Blademaster.
