The Lemming
I was wondering if there is anyone else who plays by satellite internet. Basically the situation is my commands need to be sent lots of miles strait up, then down, then the response by the mud does the same. As a result I am lagged from 1-4 seconds (dependant on cloud cover) every time I put in a separate command. I can stack commands on top of another for faster effect (so the ISP lags the same time as the mud) but it makes fleeing from combat a pain. Most people that attack me can walk in, and attack me in the time it takes me to even receive the directions I can walk in. Much less process where I am going. I can do fairly well with melee classes and things that lag opponents but those are boring now. And I refuse to use someone who relies on +++ASSASSINATES+++ to get the job done. Any help? Warpnow
Change ISP, there is a new technology known as "fixed" wireless which works on atenna over satelity which is faster. Although, I have connected from satelite and not had a problem that bad... I am on dialup and don't even have that bad, as long as I am doing NOTHING ELSE while playing. Deykari
Thats what makes Cable and DSL GREAT! UPGRADE FOO! Yea, it's not readily available for me either. Most phone lines in most areas in England are covered by major telephone companies such as BT, telewest and so on and with those lines, access to pretty much most ISPs is available. However, I live in Hull (anybody from England don't you dare get me started.. ), a town which has it's own telecommunications company, and most people including me, within the town and on it's outskirts, use this companies phone lines/phone service and so on. All ISPs I have tried, I can only sign up for with a BT/telewest etc. phone service. So I have two options. AOL (which I have had and hate), or a local ISP that caters for our town. Which, what a surprise, is ridiculously overpriced. Dey
grannym4n
You're not alone Dey. In WI I pay outrageous prices for my DSL. An arm or child a month for the crappiest DSL download/upload speeds. While at my apt. in Seattle I pay 'about' the same, probably less, for a 6mps line. It is rediculous. Wasn't it way back in the day they were saying every place in the US by the year 2002? would have access to high speed internet. Liars. It's not even close.
