Warmongrel
Back to the original question, I find that almost everyone should make a cleric or healer. Then use that character to walk around all over the place and learn the lands real well. Once you know all the main directions and how many paces to what, you will get much better at running, chasing takes more time to get down, but you just have to constantly chase someone, and you'll get it. The healer/cleric is a good way to learn chasing too, because more than likely, they wont sit there to be finished off, you'll have to chase them down. -Totenkopf-
I prefer my women to be women. Come to Thailand! Love you long time! On topic, I also pick up trends. Some characters like to run through the dead sea. Some Tassin's character (provided they are nexus) generally fight near the nexus fortress, then flee through rheydin, head west go west of val miran to near the river. Then generally recall if capable.
L-A
There is also something else to consider: If you let them run, sleep for three ticks then go search all areas you can usually find them (I can search something like 90% of the realms in <15 minutes). The-Nameless
I always found the most successful running always involves the underdark, you can extend a small lead, then suddenly your gone. If you do not dedicate yourself to certain paths, also learn to use the perks of your class to your advantage. Here is my example of using class skills to assist in your running. Your a thief, running of course. You run to sea elven area, you then set your antimagic trap deep in the water. They hit it, drop poison. You then pry away the item that lets them breath water. They are dropped back at Dwindle. That is one of my favorite tactics. If your running from an elf, it is bound to happen , try using the troll village. Even though the mobs are weak, they all aggro elves regardless of the elves level. Also be aware of lockable no_pass doors. These in and of themselves can be lifesavers/enders. Having a good knowledge of "dark" rooms helps too. I know many of these rooms scattered throughout the lands, these can be a double edged sword though. As they may not see you, but they may also know the room you used hehe. As far as chasing goes I prefer to chase with numpad, as I have all my key chasing macros bound somewhere on that. Where pk, scan, aff, and all directions as well as inventory. Relying on my left hand for alt + s or alt + a for my combat starters.
alldaymuddin
Don't use run alias's! Believe me, triggers and macros for running are bad, anyone who has killed me in Banor forest.. you now know why, Deykari would just wait for me to come marco/triggering through Thrash! while its still going through the motions trying to make you go in those directions you are being beaten to death.. if you are lucky you will escape with enough hp to get away. I never did.. never again:p
