hooray for fights!

So last night me and a bunch of friends go out to bar hop, and at the second bar (The Safehouse) some drunk jerk threw his (full)glass at the wall and shattered it, covering me and my hot friend in whatever he was drinking. After security and my friends stopped me from hurting the guy, and he got bounced, I realized that I didn't just get alcohol in my eye, but also glass.

So, the waitstaff, the bartenders and security are all making sure I don't run out of drinks, because I'm assuming they didn't want me to sue, so I'm getting pretty wasted. We are there for a bit longer, I'm getting all kinds of attention holding an ice pack over my eye in a bar. Thankfully anyone who saw it, knew pretty much what happened.

Anyways, so we're leaving the bar, walking down the alley to the main street and there is the guy who threw the glass. I'm polite, and stuff and just walk past without any further incident, and he makes a comment about how he "missed".

So this is where it gets fun. Being the violent, and trained psycho that I am, I grabbed his arm, picked up him in a fireman's carry and dropped him sideways onto his back, and proceeded to stomp him quite successfully.

And now, I'm sitting here this morning, slightly hungover, my eye hurts, and there's some guy out there that freakin hates me.

FUN!

I consider life is like a game of Mine Sweeper. You have a big grid; most of the squares are empty, but some of the squares have bombs on them. Every day you live you tick off a box, and usually nothing happens.

Every time you start a fight, you tick off ten boxes. Sure, most of the time nothing will happen. But every now and then you will tick off a bomb square by fighting a dude who is dangerous, armed, or just having a really bad day.

The other day over here a guy got shot outside a bar just for pushing someone. Also, not long ago, a guy started a fight at a kebab store after being out drinking. He hit his victim who fell and hit his head on the corner of a table and died. Now the guy is going to jail for manslaughter.

Unless you're defending yourself, it's pretty much never worth fighting.

I totally agree, thankfully guns are quite rare in NZ but needless to say other common weapons can be just as dangerous or deadly. It's sometimes better off taking a beating, getting the cops involved and taking the guys *** to court and making some sweet sweet $$$. My 3 friends got done for GBH and had to $500 each for emotional damage for the family of the boy who got beat, not to mention alot of community work and fines.

Guns are rare here in Australia, too. But people still find them somehow ;p

I'm not saying anyone should just take a beating and not defend themselves. But I am saying that it's foolish and dangerous to get in a fight over harmless talk, and it can end with very bad consequences whether you win or lose the fight.

Doesn't sound like much of a fight to me. Where I've from 'fights' involve one party actually fighting back. What you describe is just plain someone getting their @$$ kicked. I'm actually surprised (if it happened this way) that the guy didn't put up more resistance. Sounds like he was spoiling for a fight with someone. I'm also surprised he didn't have more friends with him as well. Everytime I've seen someone get bounced they never wait alone....always makes me glad I never venture into the nightlife alone either...

Still man - WTF?!?!!? Get the discipline side of your martial art going and walk away dude. He's not worth it. All he's gotta do is go to the police now and you'll be on tape leaving the club and right before he gets bashed. He could say anything he likes and you'll be in a whole lot of legal hurt.

L-A

PS - glad you're OK too man. Getting injured by some loser's glass would really suck.

I always thought having a carry license and carrying a handgun with you on the street was a bit of a funny issue. Consider the following example.

You're walking in the street and you have a gun in your waist or in a holster under your arm. Some guy jumps out and points a gun at you, demanding you give him your wallet.

He has a gun, you have a gun. Now what do you do?

1) If you try to pull your gun out, he'll probably shoot you first since his gun is already out and aimed.

2) If you give him your wallet then shoot him when he's running away, that's manslaughter or murder depending on the circumstances.

The only time you'd be allowed to shoot someone is if you were in fear for your life. And usually in those situations, you've already got a gun pointed at you. If you use the gun in any other situation, you're probably in the wrong legally.

I just don't see the point of having a gun on you in these situations.

And f0xx: Explain to me when it is a good idea to fight and why, when you're not defending yourself or others?

I agree with Nekky. Very intelligent guy. He must be a lawyer or something ;)

Foxx, would you go to jail over wounded pride?

No, but I won't go to jail if I brake the ribs of someone who is insulting me too, would I? And in my country, I won't even have to pay fines and whatever...

As Nomak said...

In Bulgaria we go to jail only if we multikill people :)
