Kyzarius
I'm just saying that using all the bells and whistles of these mud clients will make your pk game dull. I won't use triggers as I do not want ANYTHING putting in a command automatically during combat. I may get disarmed, but at the same time, I may need to get away moreso than getting my weapon back. Those two commands stacking before my flee could be terrible. yeah, triggers carry a HUGE risk. I use only one or two ever really, and I can toggle them on and off with a single keystroke. L-A
I think you're being a little melodramtic with the 'cheating' beat up. TBH, if you want help doing this I will put the commands here on the open forum for highlights, triggers and aliases I use. I use JMC so I'd do it in that syntax but some of the more advanced client users could convert it for their client easily. Some of the things I have done (I don't do all of them atm): Highlight key phrases. One command to rebind all aliases on a target Tracking trigger (could be adpated for a ranger tracker easily) One command spells on melees for consumables Highlight primary, secondary, held and shield for easy viewing on scrolling combat screen (I know the eq so I can determine if disarm is worth it etc). I don't use the instant sac on disarm or instant pick up because players do 'abuse' and try to trick others with this. Lag (not latency) is also a great issue these days - more than I've even dealt with but that might be because I'm on a mid-sized melee. This means I'm being VERY careful with command throughput so I don't get stuck with a billion flee's while they get to walk in an lag me again. Ways to defeat some of this: Spam - no trigger is faster than you sitting in a room spamming. NONE. Autosneak - can't trigger what yo can't see. 500xp penalty isn't too shabby now is it? Mostly spam is my trick when I'm faced with this. Works all the time - esp. if you bind you spamable command to a single keystroke (one of the best things you can do as long as you don't rebind keys the MUD uses that you want eg q for quest). Cheers, L-A PS I've also had players tell me they choose names Seltrin (example, not a real character) so player will c 'hell' sel and hit themself. THAT is abuse - triggers, macro's, aliases and highlights are not.

Elfrosto
As a ranger, I find hilites the difference between me dying, and me getting away with my hide intact. When you have three pets, and yourself doing damage, plus all of your opponents attack, the stuff becomes such a blur even between ticks it's hard to differentiate. I think alias'es are closer to cheating than hilites, because hilites don't actually DO anything. I could decide to hilite the word "The" and it wouldn't do me any good, except everytime it came up it would be bright. It's not like aliases, or combat triggers, which can actually give someone an advantage if they do it right. I was fighting someone the other day, and they CLEARLY had a trigger set up for one their [cabal charmie] disarmed. Sacced my staff so fast there was NO WAY he could've typed it out. But hilites dude? Nah, there's so many other ways to actually cheat, you can't count this.
f0xx
Lets stop this nonsense aleady aye? I will use all of my scripts as much as I want and no matter how much someone claims wether aliases, triggers and macroes are cheating, I doubt those who are using them will care. jibber
I died once on a very.. decked, albeit long-lived character because I didn't notice sanctuary fell. Needless to say, now I have a highlight, AND a trigger for sanctuary falling, which goes something like this: THE WHITE AURA AROUND YOUR BODY FADES. (I make it uppercase, and bright red), and then I have my client echo *** SANCTUARY FELL *** three times. I've not forgotten sanctuary since. -Totenkopf-
Now they miss flight or prot shield fall because its off the screen buffer straight away Nah, I noticed Jibber tidied their act up with prot shield, they used to be a little complacent. Imoutgoodbye
Some people can't type as fast as others. Some can't read as fast as others. Triggers, aliases, and highlighting helps. I want people who can't type as fast as me to be competitive.
