Whether and where they are created' date=' I think the country where most people gain sustenance from them on a consistent basic is where that food might call home.[/quote']

And I think the people who created the food would disagree.

speaking of chinese food, what are those little cakes I usually find in the dessert line of the chinese buffets called? Most of those are simply delectable.

Pizza is Italian, but if you are in New York or Florida, there is some great pizza to be had.

Hamburgers and Hot Dogs are German, with the first term describing someone from hamburg who is then cooked on a patty. And hot dogs come from Weiner-ville, Germany (the capital, if I'm not mistaken).

Since America is so diverse and includes two major world regions (both south and north America) anything could be considered "american food" based on your location at the time. I had some great Greek food the other day down at the sponge docks, but really all of the ingredients and cooking happened here in the USA.

Most of us do not eat hamburgers and pizza all day, despite what you may have heard on TV.

Now if you want something really American, go get some barbecue chicken. You won't be disappointed.

Or if you are really lucky, you can eat Celerity's moon pie.

Hotdogs and hamburgers are both from German...Pizza is chinese or Italian depending when you want to identify it as pizza. An incredibly small amount of food is actually "American". I am fairly certain potato salad isn't even originally from america. And if we are going to go with where the most of X is consumed...almost everything is Chinese or Indian then. Massive populations + the commercial interests that such populations create = greatest intake. And don't say...but its China...there is a Starbucks touching the Great Wall.

Corned beef and cabbage?

CORNED BEEF! That's the junk that made me sick while it was boiling! I've probably never had brisket, especially after googling it and checking the price per lb. :o

However, stuffed cabbages and boiled dinner (real beef, not corned beef) are positively delicious. Boil up some potatoes, carrots, a few onions, and some meat...mmmmmmm...delicious.
