Grim's guide to getting stomped.

Feel like everyone is after you? Had a bad mud day? Full looted? Broken hearted? Demoralized? Still I in your clan at level 50? Have an arch enemy that stomps your guts out at every opportunity? This doesn't have to be an enraging experience. My friend frosty recently broke himself because of this mud, which I do not think is cool.

When I first came here, I sucked... badly. It took me forever to even be able to break past level 30. Right off the bat I was being pked in the teens, full looted in the teens, taunted, and multikilled. Although upsetting, this did not break my spirits. It made me realize, "I'm doing something wrong."

If someone else can pwn, you can pwn too. Getting pwnt is part of the learning experience. In order to get stomped without being enraged, you have to realize something and admit something to yourself... "I suck.". There are a lot of pwny players on this mud, and their characters can always be expected to flourish in pk moreso than your average player.

"But Grim, how do I know who is playing these powerhouses?"

Simple, look at their character history and their naming style.

People to watch out for:

1) Mindflayer

2) Hitandrun

3) Jibber

4) The-Nameless

5) HBwillie

6) HouslessRogue

Thats it! 6 people! Everyone else that plays this game is terrible.

If you have been pked by anyone that does not belong to one of them, then you probably need to check yourself and give yourself a general skills test. Maybe ask someone how to play. As far as getting pwnt? Brush it off. Do NOT delete... in fact, when you create your character, type this: "alias delete quit". Quitting? Yes. Just stop playing... maybe for one day, two days, a week. Its cool... sometimes if you over play every day, you make stupid mistakes. The longer you stay logged on, the better chance you have of getting your **** pwnt off. Shame on you. Just quit and don't even think about FL for a while... next time you log on, it will be fresh and you won't be irritated at the thought of re-equipping or any of that... it'll just give you something to do. I hate logging on at 50 and having absolutely no reason to be on.

Log yourself getting pwnt. I never log win fights, I log fail fights and I crunch some numbers and like... make notes of where I failed and whatever.. you get the idea. This game is about losing and reviewing, it is the only way to get to the top of the pk game. You can't just run in there and expect to do everything right. You have to lose. I still kind of suck and I have been playing for almost a decade now. Sure, I feel completely comfortable and confident at all times, but I am also not afraid to die. Remember, you have 60 lives.

Summary to losing at 50:

1)Realize that you suck.

2)Pay attention to all threats.

3)Have extensive escape plans... I mean like plan A, B, C, D, E, and F.

4)Don't piss people off.

As far as this mud paranoia? That is ridiculous, have mud self-esteem. I'm ready to fight anybody and everybody because I think I can beat their ***. You won't always win, like that, but damn, don't let yourself die to them. If you die, it is because you didn't run fast enough.

I don't think dwarf blademasters in barbarian are a good indication of player skill.

If you can't wipe out half the pbase with that combo, something is wrong.

You are not really allowed to "wipe out" with a neutral character, remember?

And I was not really talking about player skills, more like power combos...

I admit I play combos that can be considered.. 'powerful', but everyone else knows I've played every other class/race that's not considered powerful, and did very well with them (coupled perhaps with some cabal skills and spells). I think I speak for everyone on that list when I say we don't always play combos we think are powerful. We play combos we think would be fun to RP, while also keeping the PK aspect lively. And I think most every combo I can think of has the ability to PK if you do it right.

(I've even rolled a faerie thief.. who knows, maybe I might make people think THEY are overpowered.)

I'd personally put Pali on that list.

I've seen him PK in person(looking over his shoulder) and he's cold, calculating and VICIOUS. The man is like a machine. If he wins, he just moves on, if he loses it's the exact same. Terrifying, really. That and I've only ever seen him lose a few times(i know he has but seeing it is different than hearing it)

If anybody would go on there it would be Crackwilly' date=' but hes inactive it looks like. Pali is a fat mustard-hound.[/quote']

That's not very nice! [kicks you in the head] Don't make fun of Pali, I'll hunt you down and show you what a real FL ninja should do. ;)

I can agree with willy, if he were to come around anymore. But by that logic, there are a few more names you could add.

I.E. Old Man, WC...plenty of DAMN GOOD players that don't come around much anymore
