Atticus
Hey, Im just going to say this. 1. there has been multiple times when people have come up to my char, with some knowledge that there was no way- that they IC could have known about my character. 2. This also goes for my name, how I go about things, and my affiliations- but when I bring this up IC to the snoop- they usually just say, "well ive heard wispers." That- is an epic fail of covering up an attempt to use OOC knowledge pertaining to IG an IC matters. 3. For example, characters- that know nothing about Merchant- seem to have, which is beyond me- knowledge that they are a part of Syndicate. Then they would go on saying that you are then evil, or just as bad being part of the inner workings of the family. Which I think- would just be an attempt to show some RP development to be able to incite violence among the Merchants. Regardless- it is a futile attempt, and if you have read this then I give you props. there is a thin line, as said before- but most people instead of taking the time to develop their characters knowledge, (as in RP) they instead choose the route of automatic assimulation of the player knowledge, to the character. yeah some deep ninja **** peace. Croyvern
3. On more than one of my characters A certain merchant has directed me to the cartel to learn more about the Merchants. So let us be careful not to give people information and then complain that they know. Perhaps it would do the merchants good to adopt an alternate induction process. Perhaps using the long lost art of "sponsorship" or the "drafting" of a contract.
jibber
I think he means characters who have had no interaction with Merchants, as a whole, knowing somehow that Merchants are part of Syndicate while the basis of Merchant's RP is to stay out of PK and be the 'book keepers' of Syndicate. I've seen this too. Oh well.

I'll go so far as to say- that yeah, it has happened- however, this doesnt mean that knowledge should EXTEND to your other characters... *cough*

It is a very easy to find out in game.
Atticus
Not everyone goes about it in the manner in which I have described, I have both elaborated on those two situations. And I dont assume, as you have said it is "easy" to find out in game, however- when a character gets on, and tells me about my whole history when this is the first time I've ever seen them, its that that hard to infer what path they chose. Balgashang
some npcs tell you, if you happen to inquire, which i sort of took as common knowledge, like, 2+2 =4 Edit: tell you in a round about duh way

I have an idea, let the imms decide if someone is using ooc info in a game damaging manner. Change your assumption.
f0xx
yet, here again..because someone might have done their homework, or been leveling watching you for a while..you assume they use some kind of ooc info to know who you are. I have an idea, let the imms decide if someone is using ooc info in a game damaging manner. Change your assumption. I also have problem with this. There seems to be some kind of a mentality that if my character has never interacted with your character I am not supposed to know anything about you and I am not supposed to have a reason to kill you therefore I am OOC, while at the same time they do not realize that by implementing this mentality on their characters they become OOC because they let their RL emotions and assumptions influence their character's behaviour. Croyvern
A small rant at all the "Why did you kill me, we've never met" guys My immediate thought was "Dear Heavens, how odd are you? Most of my victims cry before I kill them. You are quite possibly the most noisy corpse I have ever encountered."
Kyzarius
I wonder how many killers introduce themselves properly before slaying someone...hmmm
Atticus
Forget it, I was just providing some feedback and illumination on this subject. All I get is you Assume this, and Assume that- have fun with your lack of witty banter, and circular logic.
