[02/21/10]: Change: Aspects of embrace have been tweaked Goodie [12/29/09]: Berserkers no longer suffer a penalty to haymaker chance against Illithids What, Battlemage Squids need this... how are they going to face an Zerk if they get Dispeled *HINT* *HINT* Now really, why take this out ? What's next Half-Elf charm resistance ? I like unique bonus on some races. Like Storm Electrical resistence, or Fire giants Fire weapon bonus. Lytholm
Now really, why take this out ? What's next Half-Elf charm resistance ? Haymaker is not a mental spell. Mental resistance shouldn't come into it. The same answer as to why manalock won't stop it. Lytholm.
Wade
I thought it was because of the squids lack of face? haha

mya
I thought it was because of the squids lack of face? haha Mostly due to this. Half the time i don't even remember the Squid mental resistance. But now that you mention it, it is a fine point. Squids with their superior intellect should resist better to the loss of spells due to hay-maker trying to break their concentration. The half-elf thing is a about another thing, Qrace powers Which reminds me, why do Undead get all the nifty perks (Which we will not discuss), and poor old Non-Qclass get their small bonus nerfed ? What was so wrong with this small perk ?

Warmongrel
Try playing a Cleric. PLEASE stop saying that! Clerics are the easist to play, and easiest to kill with and easist to survive with if you are good at running'trackin, or sometimes even if you aren't. I've had so many Goodie clerics which are the harder of the two for killing that have had WAY too many kills and not nearly enough deaths to be considered a tough class to play. Berserker is much tougher class to play than a cleric. By all means. Sure, they can be very strong, but for a zerker to kill my clerics i had to do what seemed like stupid mistakes but were really just me being too cocky b/c i wanted them to get my hp down so they'd stay longer and go for it and i'd take an incredible round of damage. Or because I was being cocky and didn't notice my shield was gone the whole fight, as has been shown in my log with filantus(sp?). So PLEASE, PLEASE stop saying clerics are tough to play, because they are the opposite of difficult to play.
L-A
What makes it so hard to understand that haymaker is a skill and completely different - it just so happens it has similiar effects to dispel magic. That doesn't make it the same. Correlation != causality. Oh wait, I get it - its because it hurts casters right? L-A PS - clerics are easy to play due to high survivablitiy. Too bad the only way you're going to get a kill vs a average to good player is if they have a heart attack in their seat and go link dead.

Sandbox
Mya is the WBC of Mages. Zerks don't need any hate mail about their ability to kill mage types. They wreck mage face, they get wrecked by just about every melee class. That's just the way it is.

mya
Let me explain in a way you can understand. Haymaker - Punch to the head (brain), makes target lose concentration on his spells. Some spells Spells drop. Squid - Alien Race with a vastly superior intellect to other races, with an uncommon morphology, and the ability to use his mind power to heal his body. Haymaked lands on Squid, but due to his superior mental prowess they are able to better resist it's effects than other races (They get a small bonus), not losing concentration on their spells. There was a reason the bonus was there all this years, it didn't come up from thin air. "PLEASE stop saying that!" Why not. He told me to play a Zerk, I told him to play a Cleric. And the only people saying that Clerics are hard to play is you. I think everyone knows Clerics are easy to play, but slightly harder to get kills with (at least good clerics). ILLITHID ILLITHIDS Illithids are an evil race of subterranean creatures who are endowed with vast mental abilities. They possess the intelligence and wisdom to match almost any other race above or below the surface. They have been known to stun foes with a projected cone of force in combat. In cases of emergencies, Illithids enter a state of shock, in which their body divert their mental resources directly into healing for a limited amount of time. However, they cannot heal either their body or mind for its duration, and therefore this is used only as a last resort to ward off death. Due to their subterranean nature they are vulnerable to light based attacks, while their mental prowess and unnatural metabolism grant them resistance to mental and lighting based spells and attacks. Haymaker A berserker may harness their power into a hit that may cause the target to lose focus on their undertakings. Once the target loses focus, they no longer have the mindset to keep their magical priorities up. With the target unable to upkeep their spells, the berserker can take full advantage of their opponent.

Implementor Anume Posted March 4, 2010 Implementor Report Share Posted March 4, 2010 Illithid are a race mainly focused on the mind, not the body. It would make sense that they take even more negative effects from being punched in the face than other races. Haymaker Illithid You knock an illithid out cold. An illithid goes to sleep. Mya Getting punched in the face doesn't have anything to do with having mental resistance.
L-A
Nothing you posted (aside from your opinion which would seem wrong given the latest round of changes) says that haymaker is a mental attack - and that is because it isn't. Its a physical attack. Illithid have resistance to mental attacks, not physical shots to the head. L-A
Celerity
Maybe the reasoning behind it was that Illithid don't really have bones and it would be more difficult to cause a concussion...

Grim_Reefer
What the hell is going on with this thread? Illithids DON'T HAVE BONES!?: This is an illithid: As you can see by his bipedal stance and humanoid figure that he must be supported by some sort of internal skeletal structure. And what is going on with clerics? They are the easiest class to live with, solo with, and pk with.
