Imoutgoodbye
Lost my temper at work. Some you may remember I had a "plan" for my co-workers. One of them voluntarily quit last month. My shift supervisor (whom I greatly despise) made a move to immediately get a friend of hers in to replace her cousin. I dropped a few words to my boss along the lines of how some people think the shift supervisor is influencing her decisions and the shift supervisor's friend was not hired. I still hardly find it fair that someone who's never filled out an application until their date of hire can be considered before people who fill out applications. Anyways, the new employee is the assistant manager's sister-in-law, which I support because I've worked with her mother and know they both have great work ethic. The shift supervisor is already causing problems by: 1. Telling her she has to buy any lotto tickets that a customer changed their mind about or she printed incorrectly that she couldn't sell on her shift. Untrue, against state law. That would be like saying we're responsible for people that drive away without paying for their gas. 2. A bunch of other small stuff that isn't really that important, but happened because this girl came to me about the lotto ticket dilemma and listened to what I said about it. Mind you, my seniority is greater than my shift supervisor's and the shift supervisor is only a title. It's only role is to assist the assistant manager with weekend paper work by alternating weekends. Needless to say, after confronting the girl (not the shift supervisors job) she then accused me of a few things. So, this morning, I did not stock the cooler. I did not make any coffee filters for her shift. If she wants to falsely accuse me of something, I will give her reason to complain. Monday I will go to my boss and admit that I did not stock the cooler or coffee filters the second day, but I did the first and detail all the problems myself and the other employees have with this know-it-all that doesn't know anything except how to throw other people under the bus to make herself look good. This shift supervisor has no allies left, no one to turn to, and her erratic behavior outside of work has not gone unnoticed by our boss. The trap is set to close. KRins
You are a better man than me... I tend to use non-lethal poisons (visine, drop of paint thinner) when people are getting all passive-aggressive on me. I deal much better with the regular aggression that generates, plus they are sick as a dog...how much damage can you do from the porcelain throne? f0xx
You know, due to the high state of corruption in my country, there is a special word in my language for people who like to get their relatives job places when there are better applicants for the place, sadly the word doesn't have an equal in English, but perhaps soon it will Although, I must admit that just as your first post, this one also brings a chuckle to my face since I am happy that it's not just my country such things happen in I can't give you an advice on how to deal with her without losing your job or getting problems with law though. I just hope everything ends well for you Good luck.

I just hope everything ends well for you Good luck. I hope so, too. I mean, come on, I've been plotting this since September of last year. It's hard being the only guy in the work place. What little sanity I have left is almost shot from looking over my shoulder, move, counter move, rumor, counter rumor.....I know I've worn her down. Just hoping the rest of it wasn't ruined by my stupidity of suddenly deciding to drag everything into the open.

Croyvern
Rev, my grandpa used to say, that a poor worker will "not work" themselves out of a job, but a hard worker can "work" themselves out of a job. It took years to see it in reality, but I did. This "know it all" you are struggling with is likely making many mistakes, I would wager she was born in the first half of the year, and her hair color is fake, I would also wager that she has problems articulating herself. In other words shes a little dumb, and likely will attempt to exploit every ignorance around her so as to prove to herself that she is everyones equal. Fat Chance. A fool will dance and sing, all you have to do is wait. That said, mad props to Malch's advice, do your job. Do it well, she will be gone in time. It will not be the first or last person you see go. KRins
And this is why I only drink/eat from things i have prepared myself or bought randomly from a public place. I was wondering why my assassination attempts weren't working... Valek, my brother, there is great glory in victory and terrible strife on the road there. You must ask which is worth it to you... then crush all those who stand against you. And as far as shady coworkers...when in doubt, write it down. Nothing like a running log of damning idiocy as fire support if/when it is time to come charging over the trenches.
Celerity
Written evidence (especially with date/time) is gold for this kind of thing. I just finished a year-long labor dispute with my boss and it was because of the notes that I won the case.
Imoutgoodbye
*does the happy dance* So, like, yay, I won. I told it to my boss and she was pissed that the shift supervisor was trying to act as the manager. I also told her she tried to slander me to the new employee and what I did to her the next day and she told me it was okay as long as I don't go kicking the shift supervisor's teeth down the back of her throat. And that's the other thing. She's not MY shift supervisor anymore. She's been stripped of that title since she doesn't understand her place. To make things even more funny the printer to the register started hiccuping (mechanical failures, it stops and goes and doesn't print everything), the assistant manager called in so the boss is going to be there three hours longer than normal, and it's the first of the month which means new store specials which means more paperwork. I was trying so hard not to laugh when she called and woke the former shift supervisor up and told her she had one on one meeting at the store for an employee evaluation. Bully people and throw your weight around on my watch? I don't think so. Seniority and a good work ethic rock!

Mali
Sounds like you live in Clerks, the movie. Valek, you are better than this petty stuff. You could probably get student loans that will match or better your current pay, and allow you to put time toward a career path that will let you exit the madhouse world of retail. Croyvern
I have quit smoking three times, for a combined total of five years not smoking over the last twenty. Unlike many smokers I really can lay them down anytime I want to. The trouble I have, a year or so down the road I remember why I wanted to die to begin with. Listen, I had grandparents who smoked and grandparents who did not smoke. Thos that did not smoke lived longer lives, but the extra years they had were in relatively poor health do to other things such as diabetes from eating junk foods to avoid nasty habbits like smoking. (really?) So, I choose to smoke, of my own volition, not do to addiction, not to look cool, but simply because I enjoy a few minutes to myself every few hours in which I can reflect. I may not smoke the cig, just hold it and tell people try not to **** with me until this thing has burned ok? When I quit smoking I found myself continually bothered by the fact that smokers managed to catch an extra few breaks during the day just because they were smokers, this happens to many people, its why almost all pills to help quit smoking contain antidepresents. We become depreseed because we are being denied a pleasure, someone is telling us NO. DAGNABITALLTOHELL! This is made worse because we realize we are denying ourselves. To each their own, enjoy a cig anytime you want one rev, but do not punish yourself for it, its punishment enough to grow old in poor health.
