was stuck in the office till 7 pm, then went for '2 quick beers after work.' Finally got kicked out of the local casino at 7.30 am the next day, after having stayed to closing time in 3 different clubs ( moved on everytime one closed). Then woke up next to the girl from the mail room at 2 this afternoon, not quite sure how it happened seems she 'found' me, trying to flag down a cab. Only one thing is certain..monday in the office is gonna be difficult ;)

What is the deal with how people celebrate St. Patrick's Day? Its a religious/culture holiday for TRUE Irish people. Notice how I said true... and not watered down Irish people that I seem to find in the U.S (especially on college campuses).... Also do you realize how insulting it is to be stereotyped as a bunch of drunken and violent people? "Let's drink and be Irish!"... "Let's get wasted!"... No! Just say you want to drink because you are a lush and that is what you enjoy. Dont put down a whole culture because you see it as an opportunity to satiate your drunkeness. Matter of fact, Pubs in Ireland were not even allowed to be open on St. Patrick's Day until the 1990s when the Govt decided that it was a good move to earn money from stupid tourists who insultingly believed that the Irish would all be in the pubs getting wasted... Do you know what REAL Irish do on St. Patrick's Day? They go to mass (aka church) and then eat a traditional cornbeef and cabbage dinner with their family. I mean... it's just ridiculous how things get twisted especially in the U.S. I can only imagine how outraged I'd be if I went over to some other country and they were going out of control because it was Christmas. "Yeah man, lets get WASTED like the Americans do!" (And I'm Haitian...). It is just not a fair depiction of the holiday.... and not trying to sound high and mighty or anything... but I really think you guys should think twice before being so insensitive and rude against an entire culture.

On that note.... to all the true Irish families, I wish you a happy St. Patrick's Day... and I hope you truly appreciate your unique culture.

I dont pay much attention to holidays so I didnt even realize what day was St. Patrick's day. So I went to an awards ceremony where my dad was given two awards for his courage un duty to the local sheriff's department(just retired) and they had a raffle. Dad has been going to these awards ceremonies for five years and never won anything. So last night he said, if I win anything you can have it. And he won something. A nice police knife that he has been wanting for a LONG time. Knife costs somewhere close to 200-400 dollars. Needless to say, Dad got his early Christmas present from me!

But bright sight, while he was mingling, I learned how to play blackjack and won quite a bit with "play" money. All the officers kept askin me when ya joining the force and I told em next year. All their responses were wha? How? You're to young. To which I would reply. I'm 22 thank you. Then get the same comment all night. You dont look it! Even got carded at the blackjack table!

Fun night out with my dad spending quality time with him.

If Irish people drink as much as I did, and feel the way I did after St. Patties

I can understand why they are characterized by lots of fighting. I wanted to beat my own damn self up after waking up at a house 35 min away, and my car NOT being there.
