The-Nameless
honestly I always hated working out with a friend. I wanted something that could not distract me while I was getting in shape. Working out is different, but getting in shape for season I wanted to do it alone with an Ipod, or a movie.

mya
It's easier if you have a friend that is also serious about getting in shape' date=' so you can boost each other. It helps a lot.[/quote'] This can also go wrong, as two procrastinate better than one.
H&R
This can also go wrong' date=' as two procrastinate better than one.[/quote'] As long as you are able to exercise on your own, and not depend on your friend all the time, it shouldn't be a problem. I would also recommend doing some kind of sport(s). It's a fun way to get and stay in shape.

ullquiora
Not to be negative but if you are 80lb overweight for the coast guard, perhaps there are other jobs for you take while you ponder why you are 80lbs overweight but want to join the service. Even if you lose the weight, you are going to have to have to pass yearly examinations in both weight and athleticism. I've seen too many guys destroy their bodies in order to meet weight requirements, only to bomb out and get discharged because they can't keep it up. As far as athleticism I currently can meet all their athetlic requirements. Which I feel should be enough to let me in. lol. However, Im probably going to wait myself actually and go ahead and lose the weight in a safer manner. I really dont want to end up hurting myself and paying a ton of medical bills because i did so. ullquiora
If you can keep the weight off for six months you should be safe. Otherwise, go navy. You can get a medical note that will allow you in for pretty much any ailment there.
corpsestomp
I wrestled for 6 years, went to state 3 times, fell short of placing at state all three. I wrestled dual classes. 215, and heavy. The only people who ever thought about calling me a fag, are the basketball kids. But really, My sport I was there to hurt and maim a single opponent. They play on a team whos goal is to dribble balls, and "drive it in the hole". You wanna call me gay, you might be captain of the basketball team, I still ****ed your sister while you dribbled balls. + More stuff I didn't care about. This is classic overcompensation... Anyway, I wrestled as well, and at one point, I weighed around 160 lbs and I'm almost 6 foot tall. As long as the weight is distributed well, you definitely won't look starved. Pali
As far as my bmi I do not know what it is. I've personally never trusted BMIs and dislike the common use of them... they fail to consider a whole load of variables such as muscle mass, skeletal structure, metabolism, etc. that factor in when it comes to what a healthy weight/height ratio should be. If you want to figure out a healthy weight for yourself, talk to your doctor about your eating habits, your levels of physical endurance, the consistency of your crap, and other fairly basic common sense indicators of how healthy you are... don't look at a chart that compares only the three variables of height, weight, and gender. Good health is not so easily judged. P.S. Foxx, if it helps, know that some Americans (myself included) also prefer metric and wish it were more commonly used here. Pali
Hell, if nothing else, it's just simpler... pretty much everything just runs off of a decimal system scale, with multiples of ten being the dividing line between units. Here we've got to remember that there are a different number of ounces per pound, cups per quart, inches per foot, etc. I'm a big fan of simplicity unless complexity is required, and in such basic measurements, complexity in the system is certainly not required.
