mya
Even I go that one... Don't wait for Vampires, strike them by surprised when unprepared. In fact do this to all elite players that you have a hard time. Leave fair fights for when you are fighting on your level or against bellow it. Grishnak
:-P I'm talking about ways to not get dead as quick, not about going on the offensive. If you read back a few posts, I think I mentioned that vamps are offensive machines and need to be caught in a place where they aren't in control of the situation. Going on the offensive is of course the best route for most elites, especially when they're playing qclasses. The problem, however, is that everyone here seems surprised that they were caught off guard by a vamp... If the #1 pker in the game is online, expect him to show up any second. Don't go eq hunting, don't challenge someone else in range to a fight, focus only on that (and any other) definite threat. That's how you win. 90% of kills in this game come because player A caught player B off-guard while player B was doing something other than thinking player A was going to kill them. Large areas with lots of similarly named rooms allows for time to identify the target, assess the situation, and GTFO when necessary. You want to go on the offensive against a char like that? You need at least three people (not grouped) scouring every room in the game. It's an Easter Egg hunt from hell.

My stance and aura fell due to the length of a certain vamp spell, but I can assure you that I had every other buff in the game a barbarian can possibly have from consumables. Also I was in a defensive condition (weapons low). I posted this just to show the kind of a damage a vampire can deal at the peak of sun Also, the advice about large areas with a lot of similar rooms doesn't really work for vampires, you don't seem to be familiar with their spell/skill setup. You also seem to forget that this character is the same character that 3 rounded your elfy cleric which then made you go mental on me and threaten me with immortal punishment [edit] Anyway, my point stands. SB, do not get discouraged by being easily killed by Philly, she is quite a beast
Grishnak
I wasn't caught offguard...due to the length of a certain vamp spell You were caught off guard if you let a vamp land that spell on you. Period. I won't say more because of qclass restrictions. Also, the advice about large areas with a lot of similar rooms doesn't really work for vampires, you don't seem to be familiar with their spell/skill setup. I'm intimately familiar with vampire skill/spell setups. I know every way for a vamp to approach you, and there are ways around each of them. Perhaps you shouldn't jump to conclusions about someone else's knowledge or lack thereof, or, here's a new thought, try offering something constructive to the argument rather than "well, you should probably just bend over and take it." You also seem to forget that this character is the same character that 3 rounded your elfy cleric which then made you go mental on me and threaten me with immortal punishment What are you talking about? Do I even know you? I haven't played this game in over two years until a week or so ago, and most certainly have NEVER threatened someone with immortal punishment. Oh, and I'm not sure I've ever had an elf cleric. EDIT: she caught me meditating and vamp skilled me Still weren't caught off guard? Not full hp, meditating, vamp skilled. I'd love to know how you got to a 100/10 ratio if that's your idea of prepared. You're a better player than that, there's no need to exaggerate for the sake of being right. Grishnak
Apology accepted, and to get this thread back on track: I remember as Resuvan the second I logged in everyone not Nexus pretty much looked up at the sky, saw the bat signal, grabbed a torch and started coming. I loved it. Most often they didn't group, but they sure as hell made sure if I killed one of them, the second wouldn't be far behind. Don't let the biggest terrorizer of the pbase rest for even a second. Hunt him down, corner him, and turn him to dust.
The-Nameless
Good advice Grishnak. Philly does not need someone to help, philly needs people to be after her. I always find that defensive PK is harder than offensive lol (Never fight a fight you did not choose)
-Totenkopf-
You guys are bullies! A certain invoker gives me the craps after they worked out (and to my surprise) they can come straight do me during the day time. Vamp + daytime + hellstream isn't very nice. Day time used to be my chill out time, type where every few seconds. Chuck a piss if I felt game. Now, I've gotta sit there, staring at the screen, as the spell lag on that certain spell of Anister's is very short thanks to a charged staff. They can be there and blasting my arse within a second Then, I have to run around in circles if nothing else. Stupid Tribunal

-Totenkopf-
Dude, I've forgotten everything too. Last time I went to gear I actually had to work out the puzzles, I cant do it from memory anymore! And yes, all the new areas, I get lost! I had a 6 year spell before playing Philantees. Hrmm, might write a post when I get home from work. Contrary to popular belief, I feel sympathy for those that get a nice shiny or two that they've never even touched before, just to have it stripped from them in seconds. There is a reason why most of my late characters (when I initally played) were good aligned, it was because my hardarsedness has worn off.
Sandbox
yea that is very annoying. lol get 2-3 good pieces and here come the qraces, T's and E's.

I'll do incredibly well in PK while I'm starting to put together a great suit of eq, and once I get it almost complete, I lose it in the next fight or two. I swear I do better in mithril than I do in Adeptus.

The-Nameless
avatar' date=' undead, demon , T and E player too..no L yet..but I want one [/quote'] I play base race straight melee, sometimes straying to invoker. I rarely go for qraces (I have had 2 qraces, and 1 remort in 8 years) and only one elder, I had to coup for that (go nexus!) But only two of your chars stick out in my head. Lorfaine, and Valadork. Ex-D&Der
Grishnak I don't see why the open area can work because they can just vamp skill, vamp skill you, then spell you up and lag you to death. I guess you can do whatever to prevent the vamp skill, but then you'll lose all your moves. Guess you'll likely survive though. Also, if it's a Syndicate, grouping up won't help.
