Invokers

Hi all! Newbie here with some Invoker questions:

First, I noticed Anister's score sheet had some unmaxed stats. Is there a reason to forgo maxing stats like dex/str for an invoker?

Also, what should I be pumping my extra training sessions into as a human invoker? HP? Mana?

Last, I am completely clueless about mana charge. Any information on this would be appreciated. I am unsure if this is a topic that can be discussed openly, so let me know :-) Mostly, I want to know general stuff like: what is considered a fully charged weapon? Is there general rules of thumb as far as how much mana to charge into a particular weapon? Does the energy you put into the weapon get depleted as you cast spells? Etc.

Thanks in advance to anyone that might be able to help.

Mana charge is a somewhat taboo subject. I think I can tell you that if it blows up in your face, that's bad. :D Anister might have forgotten or simply neglected to max the less important stats like str. Invokers should like lots of hp and mana, and honestly it varies by race and person preference if you need more mana or hp, and which you want to supplement with eq. Play with mana charge, it doesn't have drastic secrets that you'd have never figured out without help, like some hidden things like shrines or qclass details.

Str doesn't really matter to an invoker. But you might want it pretty high at least, so you can carry extra stuff and loot corpses. I didn't max out dex with Anister either, because I pretty much always used EQ that increased my dex. Then I put all extra trains into mana.

mana charge is VERY importent, while I will not go into to much detail, this will be your ride to multiple Oblits in a single round of combat. Remember this, a properly charged staff will have pretty some might say christmasy colors when Identified, slowly stage down the amount you place in your charged item until its "full". Then PWN at will. And you will have to regularly identify the charged item and add more mana to it as you surmised, to keep it at "full"

Just to add:

"*Mana Charge: One of the most useful skills that an Invoker have. Experiment with it and figure out how to charge it to full capacity. Word of advice, begin with a higher charge and go down to lower charges, if it would flare back it you. !Warning, Be careful.. You may die, if done WRONG."

Always identify your staff before and after you mana charge.

Paste this info into a notepad file, along with your prompt.

In fact make a log of your mana charging sessions you will learn a lot.

Also:

"MANA CHARGE

Syntax: mana

Invokers have found a way to weave magic into a weapon they hold.

In doing this the magic contained will be of benefit to the invoker

in spell casting. There are dangers that come with such a task.

If the invoker does not have the mental strength to cast the spell,

the magic in the weapon becomes unstable and flares with great force

upon the invoker."

Go check some Invockers PK logs to have an idea of how much should you aim for.
