Financial Aid

I'm a little confused on this subject and the old lady who runs the financial aid department was rude and abruptly ended our meeting, telling me I'd get a reward letter in the mail soon. I managed to at least get her to tell me the amount of my Pell Grants.

Anyways, here's my question for you U.S.A. college/university students.

When you fill out your financial aid form, is the amount you get told you have by semester or for the whole year? :confused:

Full pell grant for the year for full time is $4200. Subtract from that part time/lack of need.

Since you fill out your FAFSA per school year it should show your distributions from now till summer of 2010 (spring 2010, summer 2010). However you should of got notification of that a long time ago unless you just enrolled for summer.

Most likely it will show the 2010 - 2011 (fall 10, spring 11, summer 11) schoolyear. The award letter should break it down for you and show how much you get... If you can do it, I recommend EFT transfer instead of a check in the mail.

That's right. The money is per semester and whatever is left after tuition will be mailed to you as a check. I have been going half time so I've been getting half the money. It sure has been nice.

Thanks folks! I was hoping it was by semester because that seemed awfully small for the year. I need extra for any needed car repairs that are going to come up and gas to get back and forth.
