One Way Up
I'm most likely just...doing it wrong, but I've not noticed my pick lock skill going up any. I was at an unpickable door, going to town, and not even a little bar showed up in progress. How does this go up? Successfully picking a door? Reccum
Explore the Gal Ranidon shops. You might not need to train lockpick at all
mya
Get a chest with a key that locks it. Pick lock. Lock Chest. Repeat. If you can find a chest that you can carry even better. As you can practice anywhere. The above probably also works with doors.

Kyzarius
now, I am one for training...but why..train..lock pick? I mean, this just seems like a total waste of time. Especially when you consider the other, much more useful things a thief could and should train.

All my thieves carry around locked doors to practice picking when bored
Croyvern
Pick Lock is useful. A lot of shinies are beyond locked doors or in locked chests. How good you are at Lock Pick will determine HOW LONG you have to be "seen" while trying to pick it. Unless your thief just likes hanging out in broad daylight while fumbling with a stupid lock, I say a little bit of practice never hurts any skill. H&R
Hehe, reminds me of the time when I was locked inside a door and Shyntril came. Whenever he picked the lock, I would lock it right away before he could open the door. This went on for several minutes Think he has it mastered though, so I guess he didn't need the training

You can't train it on a door that cannot be picked. I like the master mindflayer's door (for obvious reasons ) to train pick lock on. Just lock it with the key after you successfully pick it and go again!
One Way Up
Awesome. Thanks. I know it sounds silly to train, but.....I have some downtime at work where I can spam/trigger train. So I can sell cars and feed the addiction. As long as I don't get caught!
npc_death
From my experience, your ability to pick lock will not increase if you use an unpickable door. This is a little cheat I use to see if the door is truly pickable. If the skill doesn't increase, you can't pick the door. Moving to pickable doors and chests will be much better for training.
