KRins
Really Mya? Really? You don't have an issue with a character named Flame On? I'm rolling my Dr. Doom right now then...
f0xx
We didn't have a problem with a character called wild enough... if that was allowed I see no reason to change the name.
KRins
The point being it shouldn't be allowed. I'm going to name my character FDR, I'll have polio and a New Deal. Christ...I'd rather see those squid names with 14 Xs, 11 Zs, and not a vowel to be found...
mya
I thought it was Flay mon. Like a Pokemon or Digimon. A monster that Flays. Combined with a Flail Mastery its a prety nice concept.

KRins
I'm reading it as "Flame On!". The Human Torch's little ignition quote.
H&R
IMO it's not inapropriate.. In fact, I really like the name.

The-Nameless
I personally hate crap like this. I can guarantee it is one of the same guys who continually do this stuff, trying not to get caught. Really? They had to choose a series with one of the longest running comic histories, as well as a rich cartoon, and less than illustrious movie career? Why not just name him Sooper Mahn? Or Grene Lahnturn? Make a name that has actual thought put into it. THere are dozens of name generators on the net that apply to FL style names. Whoever did this is just showing that rules mean nothing, and they will try to circumvent the rules whenever possible.

H&R
I am willing to bet that the one that came up with this name wanted it related to "flame" somehow, and "on" is a common ending. I think it's a good name. Try to google the name, and you will find that you get zero hits, unlike many other names. Should we make all the demons that have words in their name change as well? (Masokant, Anarchant, Manipulant, etc.) I personally like it when names are associated to something, somehow.
KRins
I honestly think they changed that character's name already. I just saw it and had to have a laugh.

H&R
I was trying to make you understand how I think the player reasoned. Would you have been this hugely upset as you apparently are if he was named "Flayhmor" instead?
The-Nameless
Im not hugely upset, it is just consider this. Palwen has invested THOUSANDS of hours in her character. Making it as real, and alive, as anyone in history. She has poured literal weeks into her character. Now you take someone who takes many aspects of tyhe game as secondary, so he makes a name like flaymohn. It is not even cleverly hidden. Im adamantly against names being a combination/haX0r spelling of two words. It used to be a message on creation that things like this are NOT allowed. However, I believe the message really, although it did not distinguish, was aimed at firstnames. My basis for this? I have been granted sir names by immortals that were two-word combinations. Wordsmith, Steelhoof, and Meadowkin, all suggested/accepted by one IMM or another. With that said, I would also like to point out that when a player makes a character with a "questionable" name, I see another player post a complaint with the quickness. Not that we should just ignore the issue as players, but bringing it to an open forum only accomplished the discredit of the player. It does not garauntee a fix, more porper would be to take it to the prayer room where an IMM can tell you their opinion without the acused player being trashed by the pbase. The-Nameless
Surnames would be a unique circumstance. A surname in the dark ages signified deeds, or family history Leif Ericson was son of Eric The Red etc etc. Arthur Pendragon, Senrail Magebane, Rotamerc Granitebane, Huma Dragonbane, Peter WolfSlayer, Eragon Shadeslayer. Surnames when not from royalty are a gift given to you for great deeds. Senrail would be a good example because imms gave him this name for his accomplishments. Faulch was given the name for similar reasons I would assume. My gripe is with horrible first names
Djriacen
We didn't have a problem with a character called wild enough... if that was allowed I see no reason to change the name. Anume and I talked about Wihldinough, okay? I had pronounced it Wihldineaux and just figured everyone else would do the same. I didn't even realize that Wild Enough looked like that. Just like Ghalthanus' original name was Galanthas, but evidently that looks like gallant ????
H&R
I honestly don't see the big deal about names that look like or are pronounced like english words, as long as it isn't offensive or ridiculously obvious (like "Flameon" would be). As Croyvern pointed out, it's just disheartening for the player having his name called out on the forum. I have been on the receiving end in a similar situation, so I know what it it feels like. And I tell you, it pissed me off like being full looted by a char that I dislike.
