So, about rares....

I just created a character a week ago, recently getting him to the pinnacle range. I've got some rares and haven't even really killed anyone, and have decent HR/DR (38/51, to be exact). There's rares out there.. just nothing you're used to.

Ah, the good old days of mudding for long hours and whenever (weekday, weekend, night, day, afternoon)...how I long for those days....:(

Nothing I'm used to....you know what I'm gonna do to you with my floating skull and brightly colored parrot? Hmmm?

We'll wait for the purge at the end of the month and then see how the rare sit develops. There's also still plenty of stuff around which should not be (like the 20 or so surplus demon tongues you guys farmed); all in all numbers have settled down to normal for much eq though.

I've only been back a few days and have almost all my slots covered by some sort of rare.

I'll hand em over Valek, just come PK me. I came back expecting to die horrible deaths and I've only had the pleasure of 1 real fight and a measly challenge.

It seems my time slot is loaded up with people I can't engage.

ROFL

The King Herald is holding the Djinni bands, has had them all year. Yet no contract, no attempt by anyone to take them. So you all talk a big game, but its easier to talk then to do.

I pkill for all my gear, problem is it usually comes with a river of tears

In game I have seen several nice usable rares on Heralds. Im not saying Heralds have no right at all to gear, thats not it. But when your holding some of the most desirable gear for the given slot, you may want to think about cashing them in since your cabal mostly revolves around RP, definately NOT pk.

As far as Typhoeus, I don't understand why he even has PK gear, since he has that cannot be pked skill up 90% of his logon time, and rarely if ever leaves rheydin

I can tell you with all certainty that if my Herald has a rare item, my holding "that" particular rare item in NO WAY keeps any other player from aquiring it. I can not speak for other Heralds, but I can speak for one, and I say "Stop generalizing when speaking about Heralds, not all are the same". Personally, I would love to see heralds offered a choice, since pk immunity is useless to some of us. I do not use it at all, for two reasons; one) I am not afraid to fight. 2) I do not want to live forever. Like I said, heralds all have something in common, they are not the same in most other aspects.

This was not designed as an attack, or flame, or slam at all. Now you may be the exception, but I will go ahead and state I have approached with RP, open offers, direct trades, and alot of other things, to acquire items. They all declined, and I completely understand that. It ended there, but I did inquire on several occassions why a Herald arms for war.

I did not take it as an attack per say, but I see this attitude toward Heralds often. Oddly, Palwen wore almost No rares, Dilorry was the same, so it has been a while since we had a Herald who holds them at all. But I have come to believe that what happens is people "see" the herald soon after induction, when they have not purged their rares. I would be a liar if I said my philosophy was this; I am now a herald, enter>drop all rares. I do not think anyone would, and it takes these "new recruits" time to earn the cp to purchase a heralds outfit. With Faulch I was given 500 cp when I was inducted, I have NEVER had another Herald be given even 1 cp to start. SO I don't know if something changed along the way, or if I was just that much better back in my younger days. Lastly, I think you hit it on the head nameless, its not about the Heralds holding a rare item, its about them holding rare items that others need to PK with. Looking at the Rare system as it NOW stands, people will be falling back to lesser known/used rares, it will make any rare a Herald has questionable at the least in my opinion.

As far as I understood' date=' (and I played a few heralds back in the day, but none very recently), you could have all the rares you wanted as long as you didn't use the shield. If you used the shield you couldn't have the rares. That seems pretty fair.[/quote']

Pretty much. Multiple Herald players said if you asked (read: not threatened) them they might just assist you and hand it over  Of course, there are a bunch of players I see around incapable of co-existing with anyone else in game (no matter their align) so I can see how this might be a foreign concept for some of you...

If not, well, we just had one of the strongest current Syndicates characters retire so perhaps you all missed your chance :P
