spiegel06
Just wondering a few things out about these spells, I know call lightning does extra damage when the have high ac. So then what about thunder storm? When I tried both spells call lightning does more damage on average whill storm I have more random like fireball. I also tested it when both weather conditions are the same. Since in one of the help files it stated the higher the ac the more damage as well with wearing metal. So would also include lightning bolt? Thanks for any help. 'CALL LIGHTNING' Syntax: cast 'call lightning' Rangers and Invokers have partial control of the elements. When the weather is poor, they have the ability to call down lightning bolts upon their opponents. The damage inflicted by this spell is a lightning-based attack, and any significant amount of metal/armor on the target will enhance the effect greatly. Zhokril
Thunder storm and call lightning both depend on AC. Lightning bolt does not.
mya
Lightning bolt does not. Hum... this is a great idea to recycle a low level spell. Add the extra voltage thing around the target (Increased damage), if AC of target is higher than X, and Spell level > 35 (to prevent newbie Pawnage.) From my tests, I recall that Thunder storm is stronger, but Invokers can spam Call Lightning faster and at a higher spell level. So no comparison. spiegel06
why does lightning bolt not help count towards ac? Reason I ask according to the wording of call lightning help file it makes it seems that if it is a lightning-based attack it will afflict more damaged if they have better ac. I am not suggesting that it should but just wondering why?
mya
The same way Icicle does not destroy weapons. Low level spell, with no perk.
jibber
Forget that. I want my lightning bolt to do extra damage + the little hue message, and my flame arrow to blind.

Elfrosto
Back on track.... My current RP can go towards this whole thing; Look at it scientifically. Lightning bolt is a singular attack from a source, i.e. your fingertips. You are using yourself as an electrical conduit to transfer the energy directly, hence, no extra damage based on AC. With call lightning you are essentially directing the energy of ONLY the lightning, in 'sheets' at your target. Multiple hits, going to hit the armor. Thunderstorm seems almost....based on a lucky chance. You are calling the storm clouds themselves, and hoping they strike the target. Admittedly it's not actually "hoping" but I can see where the differences come into play. Lightning bolt = One quick blast, like a tazer. Call lightning = Multiple blasts from a singular location, like jumping onto an electrified fence. Thunderstorm = Single AND multiple blasts both possible due to the random occurrences of nature. Makes sense to me.
The Professor
I always thought the names should be changed to better suit how I think the spells work... lightning bolt should be changed to shock...and call lightning changed to lightning bolt and thunderstorm changed to call lightning shock is the spell casters (arcane or divine) first attempt at understanding the workings of elemental magic based on "electricity/lightning" while lightning bolt is a master spell casters use of that knowledge...both spells coming from the cast to the target...where call lightning is knowing how to manipulate that same energy from it's natural source... Kyzarius
The first initial electric spell is : Shocking Grasp. Lightning bold only comes latter. If anything i want Chill touch on clerics. Stacking STR penalty FTW... evil clerics can already apply poison and plague wihtout having to deal with extra lag. more -str? would be overpowered.
