How many characters?

I seem to faintly recall a thread like this some time ago, but I feel if I found it anyway, it wouldn't be so accurate, so I'll ask again, now.

How many characters do you usually keep active at a time? Do you have a training character and a main that you have pinned? Or multiple pinns?

Personally, back in the day when I didn't go to college and work full time, I had nearly 3 or so active pinned characters, and a lowbie I was training. Nowadays, I only ever have one pinned, active character and a lowbie to train, like when I'm at school with a crappy connection.

It fluctuates. Sometimes I hav eone, sometimes I can do 3-4. It really depends on how I feel.

I really tend to be a one main character person...when I try to have a secondary character, I always end up losing touch with my former main.

I used to have a 'main' and 1-2 secondary characters or characters in training. The problem I had was that eventually my secondary characters seemed to become 'main' for some reason. Then I'd start another char to 'train'. It was a bad cycle that kept from sticking with any one character for very long.

To avoid that I purged all the equipment from existing chars, and have resisted the urge to roll up something to train. So far so good.

Back in 1.0 I had 4. Now I have 0 (still don't have time to play, sadly). Between then and now, it's fluctuated between those extremes.

My reason for having at least 2 is due to my constant participation in cabal war with all my characters.

so when one dies and gets looted, I play the other for a while and rotate back and forth. Helps prevent deletion.

Years ago, when I was in high school, I could play three or so characters and still get 70-100hrs a month on all of them.

Now, I struggle to keep one character from getting rarepurged. Every time I've tried to roll something else up and rank it I've gotten rare purged on Philantees. I just don't have the time for two characters. I also find it can be hard to break from the RP of my main, so I prefer not to play two. I also get the dunno wtf to say syndrome when I am talking to someone, and they start talking about an alt. I just have to act dumb :|
