Qrace/qclass clarification

In the past I have reas posts asking for a list of open qclass slots. I ignored them for the most part because I generally do not try for these slots. However, I was reading in the forum and I stumbled across this;

We allow two psis most of the time, we had a time where we had three.

We also USUALLY do not allow more than two active vampires. If someone stands really out we might make an exception, but that will be rare.

Interestingly, this peaked my curiosity, it made me wonder just exactly what the slot limits for each qthing might be. I can not conceive how knowing the total number of vampires, crusaders, demons, liches, psions, or avatars would harm us as a playerbase. Actually I wonder if it would not make it easier for players to decide if "now" is a good time to submit that application...

For instance, if I am a crusader want to be, it would be far easier to stick it out, if I knew the delay in in my applications acceptance was possibly caused by the fact that there are already X number(max) of crusaders running around. Maybe many of you already are aware of these totals, after all these years, I was unaware that the total numbers were SO limited.

We have sticky posts in the newbie help section that aid in everything from rolling characters to what weapon is best to do what with, perhaps the immortals could grant us insight into this in the same fasion. Or, its possible, that I have lost my everloving mind, any thoughts?

There are no hard coded set numbers. Telling you the total number of a qclass wouldn't help you much either, as not all are active and sometimes someone unshelves just as you submit it. Generally, if this happens, it won't be that much of a hinderance for you though. Recently a bunch of shelved qclasses have been purged.

In general you should not look at what is available and then play it but play what you are interested in, if your rp leads you to a qclass, try for it. If you do not get accepted, do not delete. Raises your chances to get it next time a lot and often isn't a bad preparation for the remort.

What I do not like with the Qsystem is that it favours Elite/Veteran players with great PK/RP skills.

You guys (imms) should always have a slot open for newbies.

Typically you have 3 slots. 2 Regular and one extra for outstanding RP/applications.

What I say is convert one of the regular spots to newbie spots.

I prefer to see a stack of 5 newbie Vamp corpses than to have a elite Vamp that is unkillable.

The standards for newbies in this game is to high, we should give them a boost.

Also all this difficulty has turned the mud into an Elite feast. If you do not have superb skills you cannot achieve nothing in the mud.

I want to see a king that gets pawned by everyone and condie in 100 hours.

I want to see a Vampire with a 60-10 Lose-Win ratio.

I want to see someone get 2 rounded and say, "Haa, I was just building your confidence."

I want people to have Fun playing the Mud, not to consider it a chore.

I want the veteran+ players who rage delete cause they got killed for the first time and got full looted adeptus to reconsider why they play the game.

FUN!!!

I've not yet read the rest of this thread, but I disagree with this completely. They gave me a Demon, and I am by no means a, "vet," (did I mention I don't really like that term? :P) at least not in the PK sense.

Solid RP with little PK is usually a better formula for q-app approval than Solid PK with little RP.

If you can show you're a survivor, and never give up..even below average pkill skills is enough as long as you have a very good backstory and NEVER breach OOC. While encouraging interactions with solid proactive RP.

I will admit, however, if you can have both. Strong PK and indepth RP, your good to go. My quickest app approvals have been when I have a very reliable backstory and not only aggressivly promote my ideals but spend time with every single passing character no matter their level.

I agree with you. I got approved as undead when I still thought earthquake rocked, and I fought only with my hands? Why you ask? I did not know where i could solo to get new weapons, or how to make any money.

To give credit where due, I had a FANTASTIC RP session with Chayesh, and many others, in central commons at like level 6-7? Chayesh said a while later that he decided to approve me solely based on that rp, without even knowing that I was gonna send in an app.

RP will always be a much bigger determining factor on qthings. I don't know why Valek would come here, then blow it so quickly with a delete/delete.
