Cabal Cowardice...

I have been playing a character recently who receives quite a few beat downs, and the character has many, many enemies. Most times I log on, I face another enemy and they usually get the better of me, keeping me in a constant state of nudity, not the spot you want to be in with an equipment-based class. I've nearly con-deathed, and I'm wondering what is the proper course of action.

Is it okay to log off simply because you know you'll die again due to lack of equipment?

Or should I stay and fight and hope for a win against very slim odds? If the win doesn't come, am I hurting my cabal by being the guy who lets the standard always get away?

I don't want to be seen as a coward, but I'd like my characters to have a bit of longevity as well. What's best?

yeah, I say re-equip and focus on getting consumables while they focus on getting your standard...after you feel comfortable enough that you will survive or at least offer a challenge, try to retrieve your standard...if unable...switch up tactics or log off and get on another time to get better eq...if you are lucky enough to have another cabal member on...make them aware of the situation and go for eq while they defend/attack/help you get some better eq... CABALS EXPECT YOU TO TRY, NOT DIE... So long as you show you are not afraid(unless that is your char's rp) and you try your best...no one can fault you for that.

Much better to die and learn' date=' than live and learn nothing.[/quote']

And then there comes a point where someone is just beating you up and down Aabahran just to be a **** because they can. Cabal life is rough.

It's quite plausible to track someone all over the place, force them to use consumables/potions as they try to re-equip and then WHAM! get in a kill and take what little they have. Some players actually believe in killing over and over and over until their is no resistance left, in keeping the "character" (I firmly believe these people are out to ruin it for the player) down and out.

I've run into several of these, and it isn't pretty. However, I've also met tons of classy characters who allow you to keep your things and even give you a tip or two. They only do that when they feel you're not a threat though. I did manage to get a good suit once, and the pity party was over. Ha!

Sorry, but I'd kill you for a good suit, too! :D

Think of it as being part of a military in the middle of nowhere and in this place it rains all the time and there's never enough shelter. Plus the enemy is constantly dogging you.

Hang in there and con-death. Cabal is a plateau that I myself never managed to overcome. Neither was life at 50 something I could handle. I recommend joining your next cabal as a moderate character that is less equipment dependent.

Dont worry as long as you log your fights you will get better, as they suggested review them and see what happen. You can always post it in the prayer form to see if they can post it then we would gladly help you with some advice. Also ask IG you will be surprised on how many people will offer advice.

If you need help on getting eq ask IG they are people that are willingly to aid you. Trust me I know how it is to be in a PK and just lose, I am not that good when it comes to Pk but I like to believe I have gotten better because I log and review what took place. Also if you have not already look at the essays they have read them on the class you are, and the one you are having trouble the most. That way you get both sides and can make a somewhat useful plan with that.

Good Luck.

Unless you fight a class with good healing abilities (cleric, shaman, bmg, etc), a good tip is to be very defensive. Wait at your cabal guard, and lag them when they come (if you can). If you can't catch up when they run away, then go back and heal up, wait for them to come back. There is nothing I hate more than facing a strong opponent being overly defensive. Sooner or later the aggressive one will get frustrated and make a mistake.

I'm guessing you play a warrior. As long as you have a good weapon, you can quickly gather a basic set and be viable against pretty much anyone, if you play defensively by your cabal guard.

PS. Check my post count ;)

This = respect --- ^

I know who you are now, and you'll get your props on condeath, but damn you have spirit. We need more players like you every day. :D

My take on it: If there is a weakest enemy, go for him. If you are *** naked, let the standard go until you are ready to rumble. I've had ALOT of experiences where your victory comes from being able to log out with your standard in tact. Sometimes, with crappy eq, even recovering a standard is a daunting task. I'm sorry for the people who full loot you when you don't have much, it's a bummer way to go. If you get eq, expect the loot, I do. It means you're worth making weaker. ^_^ From a strictly cabal perspective, the only thing imms usually don't like to see is people loggin without ever trying. ;) If you at least throw down with a guy for a few rounds until you have to flee, "Hey, I gave it a try." You can die, run, and fail all day, but if it looks like you have heart, you will get somewhere, I promise.

Spot on. That being said, we do not expect you to throw yourself at an enemy naked and unprepared, over and over again. In fact, do that too much and you may get in trouble.

Take some time to get some things, get ready, and then go stomping.

Want to make sure I stay on topic, thus this quote is for me, sorry. There is no wrong move, its your right to NOT take multiple deaths in a single session. However, if you have considered applying for a con-quest, then I would stick it out. I may be wrong but I believe the immortals are more likely to grant a con-quest to a character who sticks it out. I have only applied for it once myself, and was granted more immortal aid than even I thought possible. And to this day I believe it was due to that characters bravery in the face of certain death. Good Luck.

If you are ever feeling down, please remember that the character that is owning you has been owned. I have multiple examples of opponents that have avoided/cried/quit out/bitched against my characters that beat them, that act unbeatable/ballers against other characters I have that they beat. And the same goes for me. Just remember there is always a bigger fish, and try and grow ;)

What he said

In my experience in watching players here the people who are the most blood thirsty are the FIRST to log, shelve and quit when things get tough. You will get on top of them and, if you so desire, you can repay 10-for-1 like they do. You can also decide to be classy and not keep killing them. Even for experienced players, you can 'lose' you prey if you so desire....

In my cabal, if you try you get rewarded. I value players who try and keep improving on whinging power players any day.

On your topic - don't get yourself killed needlessly. Learn to survive, learn to re-equip (you can do it very quickly), make use of lockers. Once you're hard prey to kill you'll find you can begin the task of taking them down. Log your fights and put them on Prayer - the Imms will give advice and (if you like) we can post them on the forum and the pbase will also give advice.

Its only a matter of time until you're that big fish.

Lytholm.

Do not fight people when you are naked, have no sanc, flight, cure blind, recall, etc.

If you practice a bit it shouldn't take you very long to get a basic set and a couple consumables before you go at it again. If they get your standard in the meantime, try to retrieve at least once, if the opposition is too strong, don't stay around to die, but go back to grabbing a few more things and then try again. Nobody requires you to suicide. We just want to see you trying.

Try to get a recall, boat, flight & sanc source, cure blind, if applicable protection.

Then fill up all your slots with basic stuff, that shouldn't take you longer than a day or two.

Good luck.

PS: Had a look at your condition recently? :P

Ah, since Anume gave out who you play ( :P ), I would tell you to be more careful. If you don't feel like fighting someone or are not prepared, just leave. If the enemy has captured your standard though, leave a note to your cabal mates so they can retrieve it when they get on.

This is only a game after all.

[edit] As someone said, you heart is big, but don't waste your lives.

How so, f0xx? The first part of my statement was a general one, the second only relating to his statement he was dying a lot.

You have no idea how many people I see getting slaughtered because they rush into battle without even having a sanc source. This almost always will not work.
