RIP: Ahmenes

Welp, after careful consideration over the past few days I've realized it's going to be impossible to maintain any decent PK ability or even keep up the fun factor through the on-again off-again internet connection I have from my Camp in Catalina. That's to say nothing of the time investment (200 hours in the past 1.5 months is just TOO much for me, and cutting back would only serve to sever the deep connection I've developed with the Minstrel.) Summer camp is gearing up, and I've got work piling up to my ears right now to make sure the Scouts are ready to go. 20-1 or so pk record isn't too bad at all for a non-aggressive Bard.

I'm sure I'll still be kicking it around the forums every now and again, and I may take some time to train up a few chars in preparation for the Fall when I'm back in LA, but for now it was a short return, but a damned fun one. I try and throw myself into every character I make, and Ahmenes really captured that spirit. He's been an incredible outlet for my normally stifled creative side, and I think one or two of those poems turned out decent (though the day an employee saw them on my computer made for some awkward conversations).

Big shout outs to: Oppressant (my first RP interaction with the character), Caesendara, Valkynsra (what an interesting relationship we developed), Telisore, Axihus (sorry we didn't have more of a thing), Morgael, Volgathras, Mephisoleer, Anume for approving so many damned apps and so many others. It's amazing how much RP you can find even in the "power hungry pk monsters" when you try.

BTW, someone was asking for a Bard essay, I'll write it along with a few Bard ideas. Such a fun, wild class to play but damned if I'll ever do it again. If anyone wants to make a qclass/race wannabe killer, go halfling bard and master throw at 30. You won't ever die.

Once again, FL, you've given me far more than I can offer in return, thanks everyone! I'll be back in the fall, and you better believe it won't be in the form of a combat-avoider. I'm hungry for blood after this character.

Terribly sad to see you go so early, but you gotta do what you gotta do. I was bummed we didn't get to interact more when I was playing Sycophus, but such is life.

I'll be working at a Scout Camp this summer too, so I'll know your pain (and your rewards, hopefully). :)

One of my favorite chars gone. :(

Make it just a break instead of a delete perhaps?

Well, I didn't delete so that it's possible, but I'm typically the type who, if I get away from a char, has a hard time coming back to it. We'll see how things go with summer starting and if I have ANY time to breathe in the next 3 months. Ahmenes will be back on once or twice to post some final songs and tidy up the issue of a full suit of rares sitting on my back, and after that we'll see what happens.

Man, I was all gearing up for our RP banter that was sure to be going back and forth, though I understand the RL commitments. Hopefully you do come back, I would certainly look forward to furthering the RP. Hopefully your troop or what have you does not drive you nuts!

I never had the chance to interact in a meaningful manner, but I could tell awesome things were going on that I didn't see. The title, the notes. Hell, I even got a song for myself! What a wonderful character!

Would you mind posting some RP logs? I'd love to see how Ahmenes interacted with IMMs. He must have been something special to receive so may accolades and have so many app approvals.

I really didn't log anything, sadly. I should probably start doing that...

As for IMM interaction, it was actually fairly sparse. Most of Ahmenes' interaction was with other players, which is how I think it should be. I interacted with Volgathras most (for obvious reasons) but I don't think Ahmenes and Anume ever spoke.

On the whole this character really fit my personality and so in many ways was a fairly easy transition. The whole convincing people to die thing was a stretch for me, but it did lead to some great exploration of the subject on my part.

To those who are wondering what all I did aside from the notes to all: I was constantly talking to someone in tells trying to forge some alliance or another. I was ALWAYS nice to people face to face even when convincing them that they should give in. Almost everyone I interacted with meaningfully in PK received a poem about the Chorus. Pretty much everyone thought I was a friend, but very few people realized that I had someone else looking to kill them for me. Morgael was probably Ahmenes' closest thing to a non-undead friend, and even she was being used to convince Relest to write a note to all undermining the Knights and Goodies in general.

That 200 hours really did fly by. I was 100 when made undead, if memory serves, and hit 50 in 10-15 after that so I had quite a long time at 50.

This brings me to another point: Why isn't syndicate open to Bards? It doesn't make much sense, and I didn't want to break yet another barrier with the character.
