Ilanthas
Greetings everyone, I am making this post due to recent events in game and on the forums. I dont mean this to be any kind of flame post so please do not take it as such. First what I love about FL: 1. I really like the way the classes I like can be customized somewhat. For example Rangers and their ranger paths. 2. I like the way it is not to difficult to get started with a character like in some of the muds I play. 3. I like the way I see the staff get involved in game when they have a chance to. 4. I also like the way, even though I have not really won any PK's, that I have come close to victory and this gives me the hope that with practice I could actually win. Now for what I dont like: 1. I do not like this attitude of Harden up princess. This is the quickest way to get rid of the new players. 2. I dont like it when I ask for help, especially after a defeat, and promptly get ignored by everyone in the clan who is on. This makes me feel like I am wasting my time. Even if the others are busy it would be nice to get acknowledged. Something as simple as I am busy at the moment and I will try to help you out after I am not to busy. These are my two biggest complaints. For the most part FL is a great game with a whole lot of potential. Thanks for reading my post. P.S. Dont be to harsh in your responses, pretty please? *smiles* Ilanthas/Greg (resident blindman)
the_nightmare
I would say that it depends on the clan, if you are a member of cartel for example do not except any help.
Mmm Coffee
Wow - i'm in a chatty mood this afternoon (thank you Happy Hour) so I'll chime in here. If you are being ignored by members in your clan that are Trusted or above (the ones who should be providing leadership/guidance), send a note to the clan and point that person out in a way that fits your character's RP. Otherwise, this forum has years and years of info readily available using the "Search" function (just like life-insurance, it's there for a reason )
Ilanthas
Oh one more thing I forgot to mention is I really hate trying to talk with ogres and people who are drunk. The reason is since I cant see the screen I have to read what they say word by word and sometimes letter by letter to understand it. *SMILES* Ilanthas/Greg(resident blindman)
Grishnak
Wow. I would have never even thought of that! I'd suggest maybe having a deal worked out with the imms to apply for comprehend languages for each of your characters so that you can mitigate that problem. It offers no advantage, and really just makes the game more accessible. I don't see why they'd say no.
Imoutgoodbye
Holy ****!!!!! We Found A Reason To Have Comprehend Languages As A Spell!!!!!! Omg!!!! I Just Crapped My Pants!!!!! mya
There is a pill of comprehend Languages held by an IMP down from the the Bed in the druids cabana near Aruncus in Elderwood. The key in inside the bed. It's Wax. I doubt that anyone other than me ever uses that. Comprehend Languages has many uses. Just because some of you limit yourselves... Dont be to harsh in your responses, pretty please? *smiles* Ilanthas/Greg (resident blindman) You will win - getting from winning in PK to killing someone isn't a huge step, mostly experience. As to 'harden up princess' as I'm usually credited with the phrase I think it is appropriate for me to comment on it. Its not something I say (or said) to be a jerk. Its is usually something directed to someone who was trying, and had been given advice but needed to just keep on doing it until it came together. Like anything in life getting good at FL PK means a certain amount of experience. The fastest way is to continually attack and learn from each battle - the downside is that this takes a certain amount of 'thick skinnedness' to take the deaths which can, at times, feel like you're getting no where. I am so against people being jerks to new players. Everyone is new at some point - no one deservses someone being a tool to them for that reason. Players I've caught in game doing that have ended up attack and even dead (yes, I full looted them) for their trouble. I usually tell them why too. You'll find I'm not the only experienced player with this attitude, a few of us hunt down tools for sport.... As for no one giving you help - feel free to PM me. I'm happy to assist anyone who asks. The IMMs continually say to go to Prayer. There was also some advice given to me long ago: 'If I kill someone I don't talk to them. They are dead, they don't need me to gloat over them. They know they are dead. If you are killed take a moment to collect yourself and ask (in an IC) way what you could have done better. Someone that does this gets advice from even my most hardened killers.' I try to maintain this on my characters. If you do come across someone who wants to be a tool ignore them. There are idiots everywhere in the world and they aren't worth your time. Cheers, L-A
tassinvegeta
I may have been guilty of ignoring a clan member once or twice. But I assure you that if you were in the same situation I was in during those times you'd understand. Usually these situations occur when blinded, strangled, paralyzed, cursed, poisoned, and taking heaps of red damage intertwined with little blue clan text nearing death. Its difficult for me to concentrate on that blue text . I do try to get back to them if I am able but you're right that we should make more effort in telling you that we're busy or we'll get back to you at least. I'll try to do that more often. Archbishop Monk
I have to agree with Tass. Most of the time when I see a clan tell or something, or have someone ask me a question, its when I'm watching cap damage fly by on my screen. If not, then I definitely answer in some IC form. But, in one of those fights where the first mistake is certain death for either of you, taking the time to say "I'm busy" may mean that bash that ends your life or worse...... jibber
I may be cause of such a post. I've had some people in clan ask something while I was busy with something else. I may have very well been doing something else and had every intention to reply.. but I forget sometimes depending on WHAT I'm doing. It doesn't necessarily HAVE to be PK or anything life threatening, but when I get into doing something or have text fly by a mile a minute while fighting or out in deso or dischord or in gear or steel or wherever, I forget to scroll back when I have a second. One thing I can say is don't take it personally. If they don't answer you in the first 5 or so minutes, ask again. They very well may have not seen it or forgot you asked and forgot to reply. You'll feel much better when they actually reply the second time
Reccum
Also for some stupid reason when you are meditating you cannot see what people say via clan chat. Tons of fun for monks and blademasters!!

Reccum
It makes NO sense. I prayered it, bumped it, never got a response. To this day I do not get it. Cabal chat works when meditating, group talk works, why not clan chat?!?
Implementor Anume Posted May 29, 2010 Implementor Report Share Posted May 29, 2010 Apply for comprehend languages in a short ooc note from your char, explaining why you need it or post your char's name on prayer.
