KRins
Yes they do ladyoki. Valek... reasoning accepted and seconded. I am pretty strongly anti-Brazil... but I love Dani Alves. I am rooting hard against England... but Steven Gerrard is my hero. France is probably my least favorite team ever... but Anelka is AMAZING. Soccer is one of those games where you can hate a national team, but love individual players due to the club side of things.

Nekky
To be fair to Valek, you didn't ask which team everyone liked, you asked which team they thought could win. I've liked Holland since the days of the de Boer brothers and Mark Overmars/Dennis Bergkamp. But I just don't think they have the same level of class anymore. They have some great players, but the team isn't as deep as it once was. I'd be pretty stoked if Australia made it through the pool stage, they have a tough pool. Get some! KRins
tied england today' date=' though it was via a pk I believe.[/quote'] Actually it was a fairly simple shot outside of the box by Clint Dempsey that the keeper Green managed to flub off his hands and into the net... it might have been going 10 mph when it hit his hands... just tried to be too nonchalant about it. Then in the second half Jozy hit the post... the US had a legit chance to win it. England had a lot of chances too... but one chance off the woodwork > 10 chances that were stopped by Howard or off frame.
Celerity
When the university shut off the internet to the students at 10:45 (sat. night), there was rioting in the boy's dorms (they can't have TVs so they were using the internet to watch it). They really wanted to watch the World Cup. Of course, the university always shuts off the internet at 10:45 to ensure that the students go to bed for those 8 AM classes the next day (SUNDAY). Apparently, they were so distressed that that six computers got tossed out the window (who would throw their own computer out a window, I don't know!). Quite a few windows were broken and there was one girl who used the chaos as an opportunity to jump out her own window (I kid you not!) and then climb into the boy's dorm through a first-floor window and was not found until the next morning (I can't make this stuff up!). To make things even more interesting, she made it across a river, gate, and a few security guards to do so! One pregnant stray dog was also kicked into the river and drowned by a disgruntled security guard. And yes, we are having class on Saturday and Sunday to make up for the two days that will be missed due to the upcoming national holiday. Go China! Now I just need to figure out what this 'World Cup' business is all about.
inscribed
Now I just need to figure out what this 'World Cup' business is all about. its an annual event where foreigners and nerds watch fake sports on tv because they can't handle real sports throughout the rest of the year. KRins
its an annual event where foreigners and nerds watch fake sports on tv because they can't handle real sports throughout the rest of the year. 1. Its only every 4 years like the Olympics. 2. Have you ever even played a full soccer game? I promise you couldn't run for the full 90. 3. How can more than half the world be "nerds"? 4. I played soccer along with baseball, football, and wrestled in high school. Any of those not real sports? Just because you don't have the skill to play yourself... or vision apparently to appreciate exactly how much more difficult and demanding soccer is than MANY other sports doesn't mean you have to talk trash. Forum trolls really do piss me off. You look that much more stupid if you waste your time and energy to try to insult someone or something over the internet. In case you were wondering... talking **** on the internet doesn't make you "hard" or "cool" either... you just look like a ****tard. EDIT: You ever notice that people who say stuff like that over the internet are the ones who back down in real life? At least you pick a way to vent your stupidity that won't get you beat down... KRins
i included foreigners. How incredibly ignorant and racist of you... @Kyz: Oh I know... England has some purely awful luck particularly in the World Cup. But as far as chances that didn't go in yesterday, I have to vote Jozy's chance as the best. I mean...Green partially saved it and it still almost snuck into the near post top corner. Jozy is just a manchild... so strong and fast...dynamite in his boots. Definitely an American star of the present and future.
Akoz
How incredibly ignorant and racist of you... Not sure "racist" is the word here... Implementor Anume Posted June 14, 2010 Implementor Report Share Posted June 14, 2010 I'm not much into soccer myself. Usually one of the European teams wins (France, Germany, England, Italy) sometimes Brazil; guess it will be the same again this time so not much of a surprise. Hope that Africa stays in a while and doesn't get booted too fast.
