Event Proposal (Moved from IMM Only)

What do you all think about having an "auto life-insurance" event.

The goal would be to get a lot of people online at the same time so that people can re-capture the feeling of being able to PK with more than just a couple people in their PK range at a time.

A variant could be that it is "almost" life-insurance - i.e., a couple/few of their rares would randomly be put in the corpse but the rest would act as though they had life insurance.

Perhaps if this is successful we could schedule it once every couple weeks or something (I'd be in favor of the variant version if we were to do this).

Let's try it, if it works well, that would go along with my proposal to change LI so you loose a set number of random things even when you use it. Let us try with three random rares staying in the corpse this time?

I think this would be a good idea - it would also dovetail well with another Battle Royale. Last time we had some...unexpected 'guests' pop in and kill players who participated. This prevents this and stops players experiences being ruined.... As much as FL should be dangerous, when you're fighting as 'games' and people come kill you and take equipment it would leave a bad taste in your mouth.

Cheers,

Lytholm.

So life insurance only ensures three rares if this would be the case? I think that would make it not worth it at all. I have no opinion regarding whether or not LI should be, or if it should be changed, but this particular change seems silly. Binding a few choice things would almost be more worth it, if not certainly so.

Don't mean to be a negative Nancy, I love the battle royale idea though. :)

Are you saying give all characters semi-life insurance during a Forsaken Lands event to try and up the PK for a time? Or are you saying change it permanently to where cabaled characters life insurance allows them to keep all but 3 items?

The one does not have to do anything with the other.

There will be a time limited event, where everyone will be under the effect of a semi life-insurance.

There will be a change to LI, which detailed form is currently still under discussion. From the current state of discussion it will be slightly different than what I first proposed. Once we have finalized it, it will go in as change and you will be made aware of how it will work exactly in the future.

Honestly this might give new players less of a reason to pk, just means there will be more people high in their cabal with ultra rares being even more aggressive than usual. The people who don't pk a lot are the people who tend to have 2-3 good rares, just entered a cabal or just hit 50 because they dont know where to find many nice items. I doubt they want to loose the 2-3 pieces they worked really hard for to mindless pk.

what i'm trying to say is... who will this entice to pk?

- The noob with 3 nice rares

- The 15 year vet with a full suit of adepus

- The vet with 3 nice rares --edtited after The-Nameless's statemen

my guess would be the latter 2 :)

... but then again we have an entire moderate tier and people choose not to use it. so I guess they cant complain.

We could do a Halloween madness type event, some basic free gear in a central location and lots and lots of level 50 people who haven't trained. :) The advance command is always a nice thing, lets you roll up a bunch of characters and see how the spells work if you don't already know.

honestly, I am always glad when those events are over.

I don't think life insurance needs to be changed. If you don't want to lose rares make a Moderate character.

I can see Sandbox point. Most of the people who are decked right now run over the people who aren't decked. Anything can happen of course but in more cases than not a decked character will have a lot easier time with a character with only 3-4 rares.

I like the idea of having an event a month or so where you can use the advance command to create characters and level them to 50. I think this will give newbies a taste of level 50 so they somewhat know what to expect. I would say do not allow people to use their normal characters so it is a little more level of a playing field.

ditto.. i think they make the game too impersonal and people tend to just run around attacking everything which doesn't give you any idea of what its actually like at all. the problem with Halloween Madness all the time is well.. the madness... It's just mindless hack and slash spell spamming for the most part.

I think the first idea is a little closer to feasible, like it has potential but i think it just needs the screws tightened somehow.. like its missing something.

I am for trying anything, but just to ask something noone has yet?

What will happen with the person who kills. I mean, I kill another character, I am expecting to gain something. What would that be if anyone will have perma life insurance for that time?

[EDIT] The three items idea is not bad, but this makes moderate characters obsolete. Not like anyone playes them anyway, but still. Also, the system should be picking the highest level items, instead of picking items on random basis. If a character has a nimbus and an elemental bracelet, you can guess which I want?

Also, glimmering staffs anyone? Some items should be excluded from being picked as one of the three unlucky items.

From what I can imagine this move is designed to resolve, what a lot of people call "cowardice" in game. People who refuse to interact with better geared/played characters for fear of losing their hard earned gear.

We have two kinds of decked players, mostly. We have those players who roll a character, do well with it, get decked and then full loot auto sac everyone they kill. Then we have players who do well, get decked, then loot maybe one or two random things they might need or an ally needs when they kill another player.

These events, IMO, are targeted at the first group. The whole concept of "destroying' people you kill by full looting / auto saccing their gear is probably the most destructive force, when related to new players and growing a pbase, in the game.

I just think its a pity we need an event like this to reign in the morale destroying behaviors. I have not once full looted anyone with my current, and I steamroll many of my enemies. I just wish people could for once not be such *******s when it comes to looting, and realize they are destroying our game as they run off player after player after player.

I do hope this helps resolve the issue of "cowardice" in game as well. I find it disheartening the cycle that plays out whenever I have a succesful PK toon. You reach your power peak..then...the game gets reallll boring since EVERYONE runs away or logs out when you come around.

I really think a monthly even is a great idea. In FL it could represent changing seasons, good crops, bad crops, anniversary of some date etc. These could be test of arms, magic "tests", History contests, poetry, song and dance etc.

I really think that would appeal to almost all types of FL players. In the PK section I suggest a "gladiator" style suit. Just build a 12x12 or 20x20 grid-type map with varying terrain types. Give players access to different suits of arena gear (I would put it on par with a typical re-equip suit for pinn melee.) Giving them a choice between hitting hard, hitting often, or a mix. Would work in a manner similar to current arena, where as a "crowd" decides live/die. I think maybe something special for the winner of each specific event not sure what a good set of rewards would be. Could be a lump of CP, gold, a small hp/mana boost so on and so fourth. Maybe titles too, I do not care what anyone says, seeinbg 2-4 players online with badass titles is great to see.
