Got a bit of nostalgia after someone on WoW googled Onileon, and found stuff from FL and mentioned it to me. Figured I'd drop by and see how everything is going these days, been several years since I've posted but saw a few familiar faces in recent forum posts. Have some good memories of some fun battles, rivaling if not surpasing the experiences I've had in WoW arenas in more recent times. So, how's everything nowadays? PK still amazingly fun to play? Any necromancers bringing on the pain since I last checked in?

Last badass necro was Khurvikel but he deleted a time ago, so nobody recent. We'll see if this changes anytime soon.

As to what's going on, check out changes thread in this forum.

Coming up soon: New subcabal.

Your kidding, I get strong enough to bang with the vets/elites. And YOU show up? I remember laughing about a necro without pets. I also then CLEARLY remember running back to my corpse going how the **** did he do that without pets

Kurvi was a teddy bear without pets. I caught him several times without them and beat him senseless ;)

But I hear that Onileon was worse WITHOUT pets.. but I'm sure since all of the necro changes from them until now it'll obviously be different.

I really have no idea besides what the change log has in it, but aren't all of the changes related to zombies in one way or another? Pretty sure I rememeber something about ghoul touch being made to cause damage so it can't be cast on sleeping targets, and then maybe reverted?

The zombie thing is actually totally true though, at least after I'd been playing for several months. There was a long period when I didn't die at all and had a pretty much perfect gear set and it became no fun to totally destroy people, mostly because of the constant lag effects 3 zombies + golems could throw in(I liked the chase). I'd generally have zombies but I'd leave them somewhere convinient to pick up if a select few people, or multiple people at once wanted to fight. There was definitely people who gave me a hard time with or without zombies, but necromancers had a lot of tools and versatility to fight pretty much anyone and usually zombies felt like overkill. And even though I only clearly remember doing this once late into Onileon's existence, you could always resort to powerword death too, which was really unsastisfying...except when Ivlizik died to it(any early 2.0?).

Anyways, there'd be no chance that I could roll a necro right now and be anywhere near the level I was back then, I don't know the map anymore, which was quite possibly the most important thing in PK, along with speed and prediction of what your enemy is going to do. Maybe still manage the speed after some practice, definitely don't have knowledge of the world now though.

Oh yeah, anyone have any old logs of fighting me on Onileon? Win or lose, would be entertaining to see.

Welcome back EvilMonkus, glad to have you back. Having played Kurvikhel, I can attest that there have been a few slight (but key) changes to the necromancer class since you last played Onileon. The staff toned down zombies both in size and bashing ability. Nowadays with the skill of the current playerbase, you WILL NEED your zombies. A demon dark knight with dual level 10 malforms will utterly devastate a solitary necromancer, as will an ogre ranger (especially a Watcher) or a dwarf cleric/halfling healer (even more painful if they are a Knight!)

P.S. - Don't believe the hype! Jibber's battlemage never actually killed Kurvikhel-I still have all my logs to prove it (Even one where I killed him with one zombie of Traven and a zombie of Mildred-which was crap :D) To his credit though, he was one of my toughest opponents BEFORE he became a lich. And he was VERY crafty with a certain Nexus ability which destroyed my hard earned zombies very quickly  As a decked, cabaled battlemage with +spell level equipment and ridiculous saves, it's not hard to bypass illithid parry and slice my poor illithid *** to ribbons as I fail my maladictions :P )

Holly crap, man its been ages since I have seen you around. Sorry no logs, but definitely good to see an old vet get a bit of the itch again. I would definitely like to see you make a char, right now it is pretty balanced as for evil vs good vs neutral from my perspective. There have been some interesting new additions, not sure if you were around when blademasters got introduced, they are like a monk, with weapons! Hope to see you around soon!

And they can also be a painful experience for a necromancer.. but I have some tips and logs to share with you if you want to try another necromancer. In all of my time here, I've never see a successful Nexus illithid necromancer... hrmm. ;)

To be fair, I first died to a gang from you and a halfling thief after recalling at awful and lost my beautiful gear set. ;) And I believe every other time I died to you (pre-lich) was me recalling from other people, usually Knights, and you just happening to be in Miruvhor.
