shadowjunkie
I'd just like to point out something Polk showed me back in the day. In the area of chasing: Aside from basic strategy like, knowing where people are likely going and terrain familiarity. He macroed, or if you will, hotkeyed: N,S,E,W, up, down, where, and scan - to his num keypad. using the local echo function of a mud client (meaning when you type something and hit enter it stays there so you can continue to spam it by hitting enter) he would chase people down with the num pad while spamming Murder (whoever is being chased) throw shield (dude who's about to get shielded to the face) NOTE: In my experience it's best to macro actions that do not lag you, because if you accidently hit trip three times.. guess what you're doing for 6 rounds? The more you know.
f0xx
So, what is this thread about really? Are you asking for help? Are you giving help? Are you making a suggestion (if yes, what exactly is it)? I don't understand...
Dale
He was just telling people that you can macro commands such as directions into the numpad, I know people who have done this, not for me though.
f0xx
Ah, something like an advice then? I've heard of that too... on zmud though, when you press E+enter, the "E" doesn't disappear on the command list so you can just press "E" and tap "enter" 3 times. I find that much more flexible. Chasing with ctrl+v ftw.
The-Nameless
I used num pad walking. I had all movement, and no lag commands, bound to pad, I had scan aff where inv and all directions on keypad. Using alt + a and alt + s as my main macros. that way I can run with a hand hovering over macros to get a start. I also had a targeting system where I could type one line to switch macro targets. I really found that type of system worked great.
Twinblades713
I can't handle commands that don't repeat. Mushclient can repeat your last command too, but I do favor zmud.
Zavero
Mushclient FTW. Keypad, echo command. Everything. Except I have never found a tick timer. Anyone know of one for mushclient?
Dale
I can't stray away from Roaclient events macros and triggers thats all I need to make me happy, I don't even really use macros. Mainly just hilites for an array of things such as weapons and shields so i know if I can disarm you or ect.
mmajunkie
I miss Zmud...I'm tempted to load a windows partition on my iMac just so I can use it again. Maybe if I ever hit 50...
Kazimer
Maybe ZMud will help you get to 50... You have no idea how many times Ctrl + Num Pad directions helped me open doors while blinded and trying to flee... Alt + Num Pad directions for scans are also rather handy... Not exactly a helpful reply, but you never know...
mmajunkie
Nah, I have no problem surviving without macros etc. Macros wont help me find ranking partners though.

f0xx
Man we have 3 threads discussing how hard it is to rank at the moment... What's up with you guys, you've grown soft. The IMMs are pampering you (us) too much me think.
Pali
It's not that ranking is hard. It's that it isn't any fun anymore.
f0xx
You know what, why don't we allow level 50 guys be able to hunt with lowbies. 1 rank difference = -2% damage output reduction. *shrug*
mya
Use keypad for movement. Use an variable to target TARGET-NAME. Use 7 or 9 in keypad to "MURDER TARGET-NAME" I use 7 murder, 9 path . Then I use F3-12 to change my 9 key on keypad. It can change from Path to Faerie fire to sermon to curse. This way I can chase with the opener I want. Then I use Keypad (-) for dispel Evil/good. (+) for Dispel Magic. On Battlemages, I use: (-) for flashfire. (+) for dispel Ctrl + (-) for flashfire. Ctrl + (+) for Meteor Shower On DK I use: (-) for Fireball (+) for Bash Ctrl + (-) for ICEBALL Ctrl + (+) for Kick, i think. I try to keep on (-) Area spells cross classes, so that I can panic when fighting a thief and get him out of shadows with (-)

shadowjunkie
It's not that ranking is hard. It's that it isn't any fun anymore. 10 ranks in the vamp tomb .. 10 ranks with the centaurs... 5 in marak and 5 in that undead village... SNOOOOOOOOOOZZZEEEEEE I'm having trouble summoning the enthusiasm to keep my buffs up but I'm sure that'll change at 45. All those hungry leets out there. I'm a good who remembers how to juke in the underdark = fear me. I remember our tank getting blackjacked and pryed while ranking up in the centaur camp. My char was upset but I was dying laughing. Oh, and HBwillie used to CONSTANTLY steal from his groupmates in Solace VERY funny. The Mule would always turn off autosplit when he was leading parties until someone noticed... good times. Ohhhhh boy.
mya
Hoo SOLACE. It was like heaven for DK's. You called you triton and had him tank shopkeeper. That was the life. And what about the curse of Shandor? Dam that was fun. Moving and scanning and then having her totally wipe out your party. I really miss the Curse. Undead Village ? What undead Village? I do solo by, Arena -> Quests -> KAmir Caves -> Oozes -> Tombs -> Centaurs (Awful place) -> Medium Quests to 50. You can get a rank in about 1.5 hours by medium quest if you know your way. Cephirus
Pentagram is a good place for 40+ leveling for goods, when you can get a group.
WagesofSin
I too loved the curse of Shandor. It was little things like that that broke up the motonony of ranking. Other things like that would be the wandering males in the centaur camp, as well as the special way you need to hunt Kaddars. I wish more hunting areas had "methods" that you had to learn to make your hunting efficient.
