mmajunkie
Yeah it's very cheap. Small town in rural Illinois really got hit here with the recession. Some big name companies closed down and left this town (Cat, Firestone, Mistubishi) Jobs (quality, decent paying jobs) are hard to find...so I'm stuck making 9 an hour doing network administration for over 500 small businesses....exchange servers, sbs, etc...a job that should pay much, much more. Zavero
9 dollars as an administrator? Is your *** sore from getting it hard?
mmajunkie
Yes, it is. Economy is starting to pick up again locally and people are starting to hire more...so now is the time to try and find another job. I suppose i could possibly be considered an assistant network admin...there are three of us who share the responsibility for more than 300 businesses here. Most of them are nothing major, admittedly. Just a couple computers. But we do have around 20 or more businesses that have a SBS and Exchange server with ~15 workstations. Today once I'm done installing Peachtree here at this nursing home, I'll be going to do a new server installation at the County's Mental Health administration office. From the active directory to the exchange and their VPN setup.......nine an hour is all I make. At least the experience is worth something, right? haha....no medical insurance or any benefits at all, either. No commission on the server or workstation sales I make. Kinda grim outlook here! GO TEAM!!
inscribed
military is the best way to ride out recessions. you could be doing the same work you're doing now, but make more money and have way more benefits!
mmajunkie
I can't get into the military because of a juvenile record...long story, but believe me I have tried. A lot. Over the course of three years I tried every branch excluding the Navy. Mind you I scored a 95 on the ASVAB, my father is retired w/ 25 years in the marine corps, had letters of character reccomendation, graduated high school - not a drop out. You'd think my record was ridiculous or something. Got into a fight when I was 15...broke a kid's orbital bone with one punch and I walked away. His parents pressed charges, I plead guilty. 1st degree felony aggravated battery w/ great bodily harm Flashed a girl on the schoolbus when I was 15....parents pressed charges, I plead not guilty...found guilty of a lesser crime. misdemeanor indecent exposure Didn't finish community service on time...violated probation, locked up in a juvenile jail in Okaloosa Florida for 183 days. (9-11 happened when I was in there actually) Because of that, I could not get anyone to approve legal waivers.

mmajunkie
I used to be...I've been a different person ever since being in that facility in Florida. You might thing juvenile lock up is a joke. And it probably is in many states. But the "high risk" facilities in Florida are srs bsns.
