Until someone with actual knowledge fact checks an article, any baboon with a computer can post some ignorant information and everyone else just gets junk research.

Not a solid reputable source in my book. I've never used Wikipedia for any serious research I was doing for anything I ever was being graded on in school.

Granted, when you were in school, you were still chiseling essays into stone tablets. Al Gore hadn't even invented the internet, yet.

:D

Hmm...strange. Wonder why I'm still paying college tuition then...

Oh thaaaaat's right. Because you don't know jack.

You should go post some more on Wikipedia.

All sources should be checked and double checked before use in a report, even printed encyclopedias are amazingly inaccurate about base facts, which is why it is necessary to check ANY source. I try and find a fact 3 times before using it in a report, without contradictions.

Yeah, that was my point. Sure, any idiot can post an article, but the people there are pretty good with their BS filter. I wouldn't rely on Wikipedia solely for anything, much less a research paper. However, I would use them as a cited work from the internet. Technically all writings have a bias, and it's up to the writer of said paper to weed through fact and fiction, hopefully from drawing from a number of sources.

Wikipedia is good for what it is, but certainly shouldn't be relied on as the de facto source for anything.

Unless you have a teacher who you know for a fact doesn't read your work.

A couple years ago I filled out a Worksheet about the mayans with "I like eating blue cats on the moon." over and over and she gave me a 100. It made for a good laugh after class.

Would love to believe its true, but either way isn't it stolen from Red Dwarf? Love that show...
